Quote:
Demolition Man is a 1993 American dystopian, science fiction action film directed by Marco Brambilla, and starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. Sandra Bullock, Nigel Hawthorne, and Denis Leary co-star.

The film tells the story of two men — one, an evil crime lord; the other, a risk-taking police officer — who are cryogenically frozen in the year 1996 and reawakened in 2032. Following a massive earthquake in 2010 that destroyed much of Los Angeles, it merged with San Diego to form a planned city called San Angeles in which all crime has seemingly been eliminated from mainstream society. Some aspects of the film allude to Aldous Huxley's dystopian novel, Brave New World.

Very good idea and Stallone is top form comeback mode here. I like the idea of the future being so tamed by today that the cops aren't equipped to handle violence. Good laughs and action. One of the best non Rocky/Rambo Stallone films.

I used to love this when I was little. I still have it on VHS. My Mom and I connected with this movie. She got the Brave New World references and got me to read the book. It got me thinking about the future; I remember it was around the same time that I first saw Fahrenheit 451. It was so awsome for me at that age. I still enjoy the movie and stop to watch it whenever it's on TV.

Its on the TV right now and reminding me how much I love it. It has this blend of action and humour that seems to have been lost of late. Snipes is brilliant.

It's brilliant both as a Brave New World-esque satire and as a spoof of Stallone's more serious action picks. I love it also.

Demolition Man

In my Top 25 movies ever made. It's one of those movies that I wished had a sequel. It had two stars, with varying looks and codes of conduct, and they could have had a right ball with a second one.

A+

This is great, I recently re-watched it and it has a unique blend of satire and sci-fi, action and comedy. Stallone and Snipes are are in superb form and Bullock is great too in one of her earliest roles. The view of the future opens up a lot of opportunity for discussion and as I remember it, it was one of the earlier uses of cryo-freezing in film to enable the kind of time jump. The "3 shells" for toilet use suddenly became relevant as well because of the run on toilet paper because of the coronavirus panic and it's just apt. There's a lot of great of stuff in the film and it's also quite funky actually in a lovable way.

Classic, badass 90's action movie right here that does not need a sequel or a reboot of any kind IMO. You just can't recreate the kind of magnetic chemistry that Stallone and Snipes had back then and it ended perfectly.

Rewatched this not too long ago and it held up pretty well. One of the best Stallone actioners.
