Similar to 100 Feet this movie carries a very generic and been-there seen-that premise. Yet, unlike 100 Feet, it actually makes something very worthwhile out of it. The movie's premise is: a young couple drives on a motorway when the guy glimpses a naked and bound woman in the back of a truck. Bewildered he informs the police, but doesn't do anything about it himself. When at the next service station, his girlfriend disappears, he is certain that the truck driver abducted her. However, there are seemingly even more people involved.

The movie's a clear mixture of The Hitcher and Joy Ride, both well-done horror flicks on their own. Hush doesn't add anything new to the genre, but unlike 100 Feet it isn't lazy in execution and manages to surprise a viewer a couple of times, even while mostly playing by the rules of the genre. There are some moments of genuine suspense and two well-crafted twists throughout the movie. The acting by the leading guy is pretty decent and the movie doesn't have a single slow stretch.

I was a tad disappointed by the ending that appears a bit rushed and not as satisfactory as I hoped for. The movie ends on a somewhat abrupt note, leaving a couple of things unclear (bothered me here more than in The Strangers where this was clearly intended). Moreover, while the movie is pretty straight-forward and to the point, there was one minor thing thrown in as well that bothered me too (involves a certain cell phone text message) which was completely unnecessary and doesn't add anything whatsoever to the film's plot.

That aside, it's a decent, taught thriller. Like last year's Storm Warning (only less violent), it's not original, but surprising, suspenseful and eventful enough to keep the viewer entertained throughout.
