After Dances With Wolves, my favorite Kevin Costner movie. It's too slow for some people's tastes, but that seemed to only add to my enjoyment of it. Robert Duvall is an acting god and walks away with the movie, but Costner and Annette Bening are also good (Someone give Bening an Oscar! Don't pass her over again!). This is must-see viewing for any western fan. I rate it an A.

This is a very fine crafted movie with exceptional performances across the board. Kevin Costner shows what director he can be given the right material. I loved the innocent love story between him and Bening and the portrayal of the cattle drivers was very special. And what a hell of a showdown it was, after all the slow buildup this outburst of violence...Geniously. A-

This is was one of the best of 2003. and one of the best westerns. Kevin Costner showed some of the true talent that he showed in Dances with Wolves. I really don't know what else to say, except I really loved this movie.

A magnificent western which is probably the best one since tombstone. costner and duvall are great, and the end shootout is awesome.
