 Cliffhanger Cliffhanger Quote: Cliffhanger is a 1993 American action film directed by Renny Harlin and starring Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow. Stallone plays a mountain climber, who becomes embroiled in a failed heist set in a U.S. Treasury plane flying through the Rocky Mountains. The film was a major box office success, earning more than $250 million worldwide.

I liked it. It's fluffy, okay, but the action was really awesome. John Lithgow gives an over-the-top performance, Sly is likeable and Renny Harlin is in his best "Die Hard II"-mode (a level he should never achieve again afterwards). (B)

Cliffhanger - A+
Brilliant movie. Most of all, the scenery is beautiful. But the action is cooool too. The character design is truley magnificent!!!! I love it.

Ranks up there with Tango & Cash for me as the best Sly movie I have ever seen. Great action, amazing pace and a beautiful scenery.

CliffhangerA video to get me nostalgic. Man, I love this film so much. How a director can make such a masterpiece then work himself into obscurity with constant crap, I have no idea. Cliffhanger is the 8th best movie ever made. A+Using the BradBOY scale: 420,589,257 out of 5

Cliffhanger
The tri-Oscar-nominated action masterpiece of 1993 - Sly at his athletic best - Lithgow at his Hitlerish best - the most daring and risky stunt performed on film - and one of the best opening sequences ever caught on film; Cliffhanger is the most important action movie of the 1990s.
Filmed on location in the Italian Alps (standing in for the Rockies), Stallone performs all of his own stunts, and Renny Harlin only wanted Sly if he was to do as he was told. Harlin's condition was that he was the director and he didn't want Stallone taking over (as he had heard he did on other films), and I've got to say, the result was perfection. Even now, in 2013, Cliffhanger holds up incredibly well.
I haven't watched it in a while. I shall watch it soon. I just love it too much.
