Superbad
SuperbadQuote: Superbad is a 2007 American sex comedy film directed by Greg Mottola and starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. The film was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who began working on the script when they were both thirteen years old; they completed a draft by the time they were fifteen. The film's main characters have the same given names as Rogen and Goldberg. The film was one of a string of hits by Judd Apatow, and ever since its release has become a cult classic.

Re: Superbad
It's consistently funny and has some real laugh out loud moments, but I think that it's a bit of a victim of the immense amount of hype declaring it to be an instant all-time great comedy.

I thought the two leads had great chemistry and although far fetched (to the extreme) the scenes with the cops were quite funny. I thought it handled the "moving away to college from friends" bit very well.
Like all Judd Apatow related films, it is a bit long, but because I liked the character so much, I didn't mind. Hopefully Michael Cera (From Arrested Development) can have more good film roles as he has an interesting screen presence.

I'll have my review up in a minute. For some reason, this has taken a painstakingly long time to write - and not in terms of quality. I'm just trying to get my thoughts together.

evan makes me so proud to have a penis. "i have a boneeerr" - god i love mclovin. funny and sweet for such a cock-worshipping movie. Definitely touching at times and cera and hill's chemistry are undeniable. A

Granted, I haven't been to an opening night for a comedy er, ever, but I was amazed. People were clapping, seriously! Anyway, I loved it. It was uneven at points, but when it was on, it was ON. Best part for me: Seth going into the supermarket and envisioning getting the beer.

Re: Superbad
My audience went hysterical when Seth said something like "Yes, but my back is located on my cock." Likely it was for the sheer audacity of the line towards a girl that seemed not to dig him.

Unbelievable awesomeness. Funniest movie I've seen since like Old School. Just about everything that came out of Jonah Hill's mouth had me in tears, as well as all McLovin-related scenes.

Re: Superbad
Yet another truly hilarious and heartfelt winner from Judd Apatow and his talented team. Along with Knocked Up, this is the year's funniest comedy, filled with non-stop laughs that are often so hysterical that you'll still be laughing even after you leave the theater. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are both masters of awkward comedy, and they have great chemistry together onscreen. They are very believable and finally get a chance to shine in the spotlight after being relegated to supporting roles in their previous projects. Seth Rogen and Bill Hader are also great as two cops who just want to have a good time. But the scene-stealer, and the character that will be remembered long after this movie leaves theaters, is Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Fogel, or "McLovin" as his fake ID refers to him as. Plasse is so consistently lovable and hilarious that by the end you'll be cheering for his character without any hesitation. The film also has the signature brand of heart that is seen in all Apatow-related projects, and at times the film can be surprisingly touching. Everyone can find a character to relate to here, and the experiences they go through, no matter how crazy they are, are all quite realistic. This is just an incredibly smart, well-written teen comedy that is one of the best of its kind since the first American Pie. Oh, and did I mention it's hilarious? A-

Re: Superbad
I liked it a lot, didn't love it. I thought the movie was dead-on in its depiction of parties and booze and the underage aquisition of said booze. And the character work was really nice. Unfortunately, the laughs kinda stopped in the middle section.

Really great. Better than Knocked Up (not taking anything away from it) and true on SO many levels. A

I've never seen a film quoted so many times in such a short period of time by my peers. It's nuts how much people are loving Superbad.

Even people my age (i.e. upper 20s) are quoting it. My favorite exchanges: #1 Becca: "I'm so wet." Evan: "Yeah, they said you would be in health class." #2 One of the cops: "We just cockblocked McLovin. We can't do that, we should be guiding his cock!"
