Waitress
WaitressQuote: Waitress is a 2007 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Adrienne Shelly, whose supporting role serves as her final film appearance before her death. It stars Keri Russell as a young woman trapped in a small town, an abusive marriage, and a dead-end job, who faces an unwanted pregnancy. The film debuted at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and went into limited theatrical release in the US on May 2, 2007.

I thought it was incredibly sweet, funny and poignant. And Keri Russell was absolutely adorable and irresistible. I'd highly recommend this wonderful film.

The final few scenes were absolutely beautiful, and I loved the scene with Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion when they were cooking in her house.

So a 10 out of 5 on the bradley scale equates to what, a B?

Here's an additional perspective I'd like to add to this thread from the BO forum:
bradley witherberry wrote: Spider-Man wrote: xiayun wrote: Unbelievable for Waitress. I think Waitress has a shot at being the Little Miss Sunshine of Summer 2007. It's not unbelievable once you've seen it. Waitress is easily the best movie I've seen this year, and the Little Miss Sunshine comparison seems quite apt - both bittersweet comedy gems!

I don't think I've ever seen a film that surprised me more than Waitress. It was a film I was expecting to enjoy but find a tad underrated. I couldn't have been more wrong. The end result was a moving, hysterical, emotional movie and the best of 2007 thus far and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed my top film of this year. Every year I have one movie that I can watch over and over again and becomes one of my favorite films of all time, last year it was Little Children and this year it is most definitely Waitress. It is powered by fantastic performances given by Keri Russell, Andy Griffith, Nathan Fillion, Jeremy Sisto, Cheryl Hines and the late Adrienne Shelly, who also wrote the fantastic script, as well as directed it. I cried at least four times in this movie. At times it was because of the things happening on the screen because they felt so real and at times because I could relate to them so much. I don't remember ever crying when credits start to roll but I most certainly did when this ended. I also loved the soundtrack, the lullaby song was great and Keri Russell sounded great singing it. I also loved how it was the first song in the end credits. Everyone, PLEASE see this film. It's hard to imagine that a better one will come along this year.
10/10 (A+)

had a problem with continuous shifting in tones between light and serious. Also it didn't help that seeing a control freak and a man treating woman badly are two of the few things that get on my nerves in life. However, Keri Russell gave an absolutely wonderful performance, and I love Old Joe as well as all the comedy parts. Russell and Fillion had good chemistry going. Nice soundtrack, and delicious looking pies.
B/B+

One of the most irresistibly sweet, poignant films in a long time. Yes, the tone shifts are somewhat awkward and inconsistent. But that's one of very few complaints. Keri Russell, in a wonderful, star-making performance, transforms Jenna into one of the most appealing lead characters in any movie in recent memory. Supporting performances from Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, Andy Griffith and the late Adrienne Shelly are all excellent, although Jeremy Sisto can't do much with his dark role (Earl is the only character who Shelly doesn't do a great job writing). Speaking of Shelly, she has ensured that Waitress is full of heart and hope. Although her death was a complete tragedy and it's incredibly unfortunate she was unable to experience the success of this film, Waitress represents a moving, bittersweet final film. A-

One of the best of the year. Griffith will win best supporting actor this year.

They didn't show it because Shelly wanted a fairy tail ending and she felt it would've ruined it if the amount of money that was given to her was shown.

I really, really don't see why she had to stop talking to Nathan Fillion at the end... But then again, I'm someone who believes people can still keep in contact after a relationship is done, especially when they're best friends. That and Jeremy Sisto's character being kinda underwritten aside, it was very charming and lovely, although I can already tell it's not going to resonate with me as strongly as it might if I was at a different point in my life.
