A.P.E.X. is a film filled with interesting idea's and concepts but is hampered by a tight budget when it comes to carrying them out.
The convoluted plot spanning time travel, never ending war and the changes in relationships between the major characters (based on which time line they may be in) is a tough one to follow. One has to give the movie your full attention to avoid becoming lost in the whole thing.
Unfortunately beyond Nicholas Sinclair (the main scientist character) nobody is fleshed out in any significant manner so when people who 5 minutes before enjoyed each other company suddenly (in a different time line) loath each other its hard to conjure up much interest. The tight budget also reduces a lot of the action elements to sub Universal Soldier territory. Indeed I wonder where films like this would be without abandoned industrial complexes and arid desert to set their scenes in.
It a passable effort but I'd like to see a remake with more depth and money thrown at it.
