Wow. I like.. just watched this today. I finished it like two hours ago. It was alright. It had the elements to be a great sci-fi movie but it all just became a big cheesefest with bad make-up on Sam Neil at the end. C+.

I really liked it. LOVED it back when it came out, but I think it still holds up well. It's cheesy, yeah, but a really creepy sci-fi flick.

This is quite possibly the most un-subtle sci-fi movie I have ever seen. It's like 1000 Paul Haggis clones wrote the thing, for one I couldn't help but note that the scenery itself was all sharp and pointy and the concept of smooth ship design was completely forgotten. So so Bizarre.
Sam Neill's barmy scientist is like the unleashed spawn of Satan with a bad skin condition and the whole Hell in the dark concept is beaten into the viewer with a stick.
It's not an awful movie by any means it's a decent way to pass the time with a suitably badass Fishburne the best of the character bunch. And its probably the best of Paul WS Andersons efforts to boot. But at the end of the day cinematic sledgehammers like this aren't difficult to make. Hell I could make this movie and when I start thinking that I know i'm not watching quality.

When I first saw it I thought it was the scariest movie ever made. Now it's still really good and hasn't lost much of it's impact. A-/B+

I really hate that film. Paul W. S. Anderson shouldn't be near any movie set again.

A/A-
I loved it and it actually did hold on on repeat viewings to me. I find it extremely creepy and tense at times, though the ending part is, indeed, somewhat cheesy. Midway, though, it is an excellent sci-fi-horror outing.

Re: Event Horizon
I enjoy it in a really guilty sort of way. Even though it's populated by stock stereotypes instead of real people (seriously, the token black guy) and the story is hopelessly generic, it genuinely creeps me out and the cast is likeable enough. The early stuff, which successfully blends sci-fi and horror to make a tense, terrifying experience, is fairly decent, even though it resorts to cheap thrills and sharp musical cues too often. Of course, all is lost when in degenerates into a crappy slasher by the end. Still, it's got some truly horrific imagery and some interesting ideas, even if it doesn't realize it most of the time.

This asshole should be out of work. Gave the despicable Alien Vs Predator as well.
I feel like snapping the disc. Why the fuck did I watch this? Waste of my life.
Fuck you Paul WS Anderson.
