Tank Girl is a 1995 science fiction action film loosely based on the Tank Girl comic book created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett. It was directed by Rachel Talalay and stars Lori Petty as Rebecca Buck, aka the eponymous Tank Girl, who had originally appeared in the UK comic magazine Deadline.

Oh Dear

I probably use the term that a film is a Mess a bit to often but for Tank Girl it seriously does apply.

If Tank Girl was a person it would have been tied down and force fed sugar for a whole month before its now hyperactive and unfocused visage was let loose on the unsuspecting public.

Yes the comic character and book its based on is pretty silly and off centre but this movie is still, not to put to fine a point on it Fucking Nuts

The storyline revolves around a Dystopian wasteland where people do what they can to survive and Malcolm McDowell's evil corporation control the scare water supplies. Lori Petty is Tank Girl, so called because.....................well she has a Tank (and a pretty screwed up one as well) and we follow her demented adventures with her friend Jet Girl (played by Naomi Watts in a bad early career move) as she battles the corporation and McDowell.

Now there is a good chance that the above plot I just described is bogus, in fact even now after watching the movie im not sure because the whole thing just veers like crazy all over the place. And not just in plot nono even the style and characters and events change with such rapidity that you'll have to bring a doggy bag along for the ride. Only a few things in it remain consistant.

Malcolm McDowell delivers one of the most scenery chewing performances you will ever see, i seriously expected him to jump out of my screen and start eating my wallpaper. Batzo
Lori Petty is on Speed or Ecstacy or Speedballs or some sort of drug, its the only explination for her jumping up and down like a jackrabbit for the whole movie
Iggy Pop can't act, he just scared me
Nothing makes any fucking sense.

I would recommend you watch this once just to see how much of a mess it really is, be warned thou the insanity will stay with you for quite a while afterwards

This used to be a staple with me and my friends' "Laugh at Nicole Kidman and Her Friends Movie Night" until it was replaced by The Hours.

So cheesy and batshit that it remains an enjoyable guilty pleasure.
