Epic Movie

Quote:
Epic Movie is a 2007 American parody film directed and written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer and produced by Paul Schiff. It was made in a similar style to Date Movie, Friedberg and Seltzer's previous film. The film mostly references The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Tim Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The song "Ms. New Booty" by Bubba Sparxxx gained commercial attention for being featured in Epic Movie.

It was made because they could write it in 2 weeks, hire unkowns, and use crappy special effects, to make the movie profitable by being a cheap piece of shit.

I love when folks pay to see an obvious piece of shit and then wonder why it was made.

Not as good as the Scary Movies, but better than the dreadful Date Movie.

This is true.

When Violent Movie, or Epic Move 2, or Scary Movie 5 comes out, remember this.

Meh, conceited snobbery that obvious is hard to admire.

Or, perhaps, he had friends who wanted to see it and decided not to be a social outcast and agree to go.

Perhaps.

The Omen: When a cute girl wants you to go, you go. Anyway, I saw no reason to assume that a movie with Liev Schrieber in the lead role would be so bad.

If not seeing Epic Movie would make one a social outcast, I think people need to reconsider even communicating.

Christ, at least Smokin' Aces has that charismatic cast.

Interestingly enough, my friends all want to avoid this film. If they did want to see it, though, I'd probably go. And if they don't want to see Pan's Labyrinth, so be it. I'm not about to sit in a movie theater by myself, so I compromise.

Did you actually see Date Movie?

It isn't snobbery, it's a semblance of decency.

Lmao.

Stop being interesting. People might think I support snobbery.

Its making a statement as well telegraphed as the German invasion of Poland that I don't enjoy. One needs originality in a putdown.

In that case, someone call in andy-roo. He is the resident master of (un)necessary and refreshing putdowns.

No arguement there.

In retrospect, you're clearly right. In her defense, the cute girl tends to know better, but she saw some excitement in seeing it on 6-6-06. But hey....at the theater, I got on the local news that day!

But, again, it's really Liev Schreiber's fault.

Anyway, what you see as an overly obvious putdown, I see as answering the question. They made the movie because clueless people who knew it was garbage would go anyway. Done.

Be careful, mate....someone may think you're defending Epic Movie!

Date Movie was pretty good, but then I enjoyed some of the movies it was parodying.

In the case of Epic Movie, the source material (eg: POTC2, Superman Returns, Harry Potter) was self-parodying crap to begin with, so seeing this would be redundant...

I agree with yoshue. There are no excuses. Especially in January with so much out. If this was March (and you had a gun to your head) it would be slightly more understandable. But there is always bowling or ... I dunno ... doing Jello shooters behind the 7-11 at 3am ... or attending stag parties at the Duke Lacrosse frat, if you don't want to go to or can't find a decently relatable or quality a movie.

If it's a crime of snobbery to say...

I don't want to live in a trailer park
I think Britney Spears has an awful voice and little talent
I don't want to provide the producers of Epic Movie, who pretend that they are interested in film comedy, with any more cash to validate their commercial enterprises

... then you may as well send me to the gas chamber. I would welcome it. People keep making shit, because shit sells. Fuck, if I could earn millions putting out dreck like Date Movie and the Scary Movie series, I would exploit you too. I was 17 once and didn't subject myself to this kind of degradation... I mean, sure I did some awful things, but not *this low*, and when my friends made bad decisions, I called them, "fucking idiots".
