Quote:
Chariots of Fire is a 1981 British film. It tells the fact-based story of two athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice.

The film was written by Colin Welland and directed by Hugh Hudson. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture. It is ranked 19th in the British Film Institute's list of Top 100 British films.

The film's title was inspired by the line, "Bring me my chariot of fire," from the William Blake poem adapted into the popular British hymn "Jerusalem"; the hymn is heard at the end of the film. The original phrase "chariot(s) of fire" is from 2 Kings 2:11 and 6:17 in the Bible.

1981 must have been a weak year if Chariots of Fire won Best Picture.

Not that it was necessarily bad, but I couldn't believe that it won Best Picture. Other than a great score and some good performances, nothing in this film was stand-out.

Marvellous. Well-acted and one of the best sports films of all-time. It's often referred to as one of the most unjustified Best Picture winner, which is just wrong. It's a beauty... A

Very inspirational. I thought the score is sounding a little dated today. My grade: B+.

I did track a few years ago, and thought I'd like this film, but other than the music, this film is just SO boring. I tried to like it, but it isn't all that interesting.
