Final Destination 2
Final Destination 2Quote: Final Destination 2 is a 2003 horror film and sequel to the 2000 film Final Destination. Directed by David R. Ellis starring A. J. Cook as Kimberly Corman, and Ali Larter as Clear Rivers.
The film is set in White Plains, New York and in the proximity of Greenwood Lake, NY, in 2001, a year after the events of the previous movie and has two returning characters; Clear Rivers and the mortician William Bludworth. Grossing $16,017,141 on its opening weekend in the US, which was a significant portion of its overall profit.
It debuted at No. 2 on the Box Office Top 10 and remained in the top 10 for 3 weeks. It was followed by Final Destination 3. A great, worthy sequel to the original. Lots o' fun. A-

High budget gorno. Lots of fun, but it won't leave a lasting impression. This and FD3 are the very definition of fast food horror.

Fast food horror definitely describes this. Talk about upping the mediocrity here... compared to the first one. The story doesn't work nearly as well here and the cheep thrills we get from the deaths don't make up for the fact that this is ultimately a pointless ride. I can't even decide if one can actually call it entertaining. A mixed bag...

This movie was actually the 1st movie I saw in this series and I saw it while visiting up in Michigan.. I thought it was pretty entertaining with some pretty creative deaths.. Because I thought this was good, I purchased the 1st FINAL DESTINATION and only thought that one was Ok.. I'd give FD2 a "B"..

Ultimately forgettable and a step down form the original, but some very nice creativity in the deaths. B-

Fun, but ultimately a big step down from the original. The ripple effect idea was good, but they didn't follow through with it as well as they should've. I think the biggest problem though was with the characters, in the first movie we knew every one of them, they were fully fleshed out and developed. In this one, we barely even knew their names before they died. There was the lead, the cop, and everyone else was just set victims. And even the two leads were much more unlikable than Alex/Clear in the first. The deaths were good, but the rest of the movie doesn't hold up nearly as much.

The movie is lacking the suspence and the originality of the original, but it is jjust so much more fun. The initial highway crash is truly one of the best crash scnes in movie history and David R. Ellis certainly delivers on the death scenes. The one with the airbag is as unexpected as it gets. There is plenty of dark wit and humor in there paired with gallons of blood and tons of gore. Final Destination has slowly, but gradually become one of my all-time favorite horror series.

5/10 -> C-
I wasn't that impressed with the opening accident. I like the simple but the more effective one in the first movie much more. Also one of the things that don't work for me here is AJ Cook. She's just so uncharismatic it hurts. Devon was a much better lead.
The things I liked here were the twists they implemented into the story... They progressed the mythology quite nicely.

Re: Final Destination 2
The opening is well-staged and the deaths are fairly memorable, but the rest of the thing is sort of crappy.
