Quote:
The Brave Little Toaster is a 1987 American animated film adapted from the 1980 novel of the same name by Thomas Disch. The film was directed by Jerry Rees and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is set in a world where household appliances and other electronics have the ability to speak and move, pretending to be lifeless in the presence of humans. The story focuses on five appliances— a toaster, a desk lamp, an electric blanket, a vacuum tube radio, and a vacuum cleaner—who go on a quest to search for their original owner.

The film was produced by Hyperion Pictures along with The Kushner-Locke Company. Many of the original members of Pixar Animation Studios were involved with this film, including John Lasseter and Joe Ranft. While the film received a limited theatrical release, The Brave Little Toaster was popular on home video and was followed by two sequels a decade later.

I was too busy watching Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhes, Michael Myers and Chucky as a child to waste time watching a brave little kitchen appliance.

Why? I wanted to see those movies.

Not like I didn't see kids movies, though. Aladdin had more round-the-clock play on my VCR than all the horror movies combined, probably.

Grade: A

This is seriously like the saddest movie evar. You'll be surprised at how bad you feel for the appliances. It's an incredible story and really feels like something more. Each character in the end brings out true bravery. I've watched this movie more than any other I think.

It's really sadder than any other animated movie, even Bambi. The junk yard, the waterfall, and the retail shop are all so sad. Then of course there's Lamy's power thing, which is terrible. This probably all sounds stupid, but yeah.

The two sequels, though I've never seen them, should really just die.

I don't know what I'd give it if I saw it now, but I loved it as a little kid. And even as a not so little kid anymore, for that matter :P

John Lasseter proves that he is a great storyteller as this is animated feature debut (as producer) before his pixar days. A well made cartoon, also a childhood favorite among the family. A must see cartoon.

It was one of my favorites as a kid, and I'd say it still is, and you can't take that away from me.
