Quote:
Tango & Cash is a 1989 American action-comedy film starring Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Jack Palance and Teri Hatcher. It was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, although Albert Magnoli took over in the later stages of filming.

The film describes the struggle of two rival LAPD Narcotics Detectives Ray Tango and Gabriel Cash, who are forced to work together after criminal mastermind, Yves Perret, frames them for murder.

This is a guilty pleasure and a half for me. Kurt Russell is hysterical, Sylvestor Stallone is very full of himself, and a young Teri Hatcher looked quite fetching. Jack Palance overacts as only he can, and he's totally enjoyable.

I love this film. It acheives what it sets out to do.

Badly made and acted. Accelerated Stallone's career slide.

Now this is a fun flick and definitely one of the better buddy action flicks I have ever seen. The Kurt Russell/Sylvester Stallone pairing is great and both have actually good chemistry together. The movie is funny, has good (though unrealistic) action and manages to entertain the viewer throughout without going too over-the-top. Mostly thanks to the good pairing of the leads. This is one of my all-time favorites if not the absolute favorite among Stallone films.

Love the movie, The film that really catipulted Kurt Russel onto the A list- He did so many great movies that become cult films, and although the film isn't amazing plot wise, Russell is absolutely in top form, and one of Stallones best action films. Awesome times.

This film had good action, good comedy, and a good villian. The only thing that I hated about this film was the Self-Distruct lair at the end. That was just plain stupid.

Tango & Cash

A brilliant film, a brilliant buddy comedy and a great platform for Sly and Kurt to make use of their own brands of comedy. I will never understand why it didn't get a sequel. Probably one of the films that when I watch, it makes me the happiest person alive. There are so many great lines and sequences, too many to mention, but my favourite is probably Sly mocking the "Englishman" (Brion James, RIP). Sly is also a revolutionary. The earliest example of self-referentialism in film:

There are probably many before, but that scene is great, and Sly always does this too. A great soundtrack too, including Yazoo's "Don't Go" in the club scene with Teri Hatcher dancing (very hot too). I love Sly's nod to Jackie Chan in the first scene. It's almost identical to Chan's actions in Police Story only three years before.

Probably still the most "fun" Stallone-film to me.

Tango & Cash

An 80s classic. Effortlessly watchable and hilarious. Kurt Russell and Stallone are possibly the best buddy cops in the history of cinema.

I just rewatched this and it's a fun film, it isn't anyone's best work or really great in anything, but the matching of Stallone and Russell, with a bit of Hatcher sprinkled in works very well. The script and the action are actually pretty unremarkable, but Stallone and Russell are both just right for the part, and the way they play of each other makes this a very good time throughout.
