Post PG-13 "CURSED" (Dimension's trick)
Trailer is online now.
http://movies.channel.aol.com/movie/mai ... &mid=16085

This is a R rating movie. However, according to Wes Craven, Dimension may edit this movie to get PG-13.

My prediction:

$20 million opening wekend (Based on R rating)
$35 million opening weekend (Based on PG-13 rating)

I'm a Wes Craven fanatic, so I'll see this movie no matter what. I watched the trailer, and it looks pretty good. If it gets that PG-13, I can see this movie doing pretty good. Even with the R, it should do alright.

PG-13 - Opening: $21 million, Total: $54.6 million
R - Opening: $17.5 million, Total: $43.7 million

I went low since they have been having so many problems with production and the movie has been delayed for almost half a year too. Usually troubles like these mean bad box office potential. The cast looks rather crappy too like they just recruit anyone from the WB channel

That's true, but after Darkness did pretty good over Christmas, I think this can do a little better than that. Darkness would have opened to like $10-12 million if it were released on a 3-day weekend sometime other than Christmas, so I figure that Cursed can do atleast $15 million.

Probably not a good example to use X-mas weekend since any movie will do well during that weekend. Had we not forgotten how Fat Albert exceeded almost everyones expectation yet it had bad weekdays when the holidays are over. We will have to wait to see how White Noise does to see if everyone is sick of these horrors

Why? How did Aquatic hold up? The theatre I went to was pretty full. I don't ask it in relation to other x-mas movies, I meant more in comparison to other Wes Anderson flicks. Its going to make just as much as bottle rocket, rushmore, or tenenbaums. Maybe a little less than Tenebaums because WOM won't be as good, but the x-mas release might compensate for that.

The add campaign for this wes craven must be pretty small, I have yet to hear about it.

THE LIFE AQUATIC budget is $50 million, but I think that it'll be lucky to gross more than $30 million in US.

The trailer was good, and the cast is good in my opinion. I'm a huge Christina Ricci fan, this movie is going to be a hit, but nothing like any of the Scream movies.

I dont ever remembering the Ring or the Grudge having production delays, reshots, and rescheduling its release date. And The Ring definately doesnt have any WB tv stars so how are they similiar to Cursed?

Oooh Look.

Cursed is Number 3 on COMING SOONS most visited previews.

Good stuff.

Ahead of FANTASTIC FOUR, RING TWO, BATMAN BEGINS, KING KONG, WAR OF WORLD, CHOCOLATE FACTORY and ELEKTRA.

Nice.

Miramax/Dimension heavily edited DARKNESS to get PG-13 rating, and this movie is doing well at box office, so it is expected.....

According to Hollywood Reporter, CURSED is PG-13 now!

Quote:
PG-13

"Cursed"* (rated for horror violence/terror, some sexual references, nudity, language and a brief drug reference) Miramax Films

* Rerate. Film edited. Previous R rating, Bulletin No. 1831 (8/1), voided. Only this edited version is rated.

According on Quint( who has seen the original R-rated verson), [without the gore it's not worth shelling out the $8 bucks for.] However, many teens and young adults don't like to read movie reviews. I think that CURSED is very likely to become the biggest winner of Feburary 2005 and even get $35 million opening weekend.

I think both the bad reviews from critics AND the bad reviews from the advanced screenings for the movie will prevent it from opening high. In two months we are already saturated with 4 horror movies so something has to disappoint and I believe Cursed will be the victim. It currently stands at 5.6/10 at imdb which is a really bad sign. Elektra had 4.4/10 at imdb few days before it opened and we saw how bad it is. I also havent seen the trailer attached to any of the movies I saw in the theaters. Not to mention the release date for the movie was delayed for 6 months since september since they had to reshoot some of the scenes. I believe the movie will open under 18 million
