Why would he want to go to one of the worst teams in the league?
More publicity in NY?

This year's playoffs have been pretty damn good... the GS and Dallas series was one of the most exciting playoff series in a long time. Then you had the Spurs vs. Suns which had more drama than an entire season of Desperate Housewives. Then you've got a Cleveland and Detroit series which is shaping up to be one for the ages, with every game coming down to the last possession or two, and Lebron maturing right before our very eyes. Heck, even Utah and GS had some drama and was a fun series to watch with the crazy fans on both sides. Also, Chicago and Detroit had a good story line with Big Ben going against his former team. Or how about the defending champs getting blown out 4-0 by the Baby Bulls? Sure, there have been a few snoozfests with San Antonio vs. Utah leading the pack, and New Jersey and Toronto not far behind, but over all I'd have to say it's been a decent playoffs this year. People are just bitching because the casual fans favorite team didn't win... Phoenix, Golden State, the soon to be defeated Cavaliers, Bulls, etc... and the end result will be a typical Detroit vs. San Antonio finals. But you can't say the ride there wasn't fun.
I should've rephrased, I didn't mean the playoffs as a whole... I meant the playoffs right now with Detroit vs Cleveland and San Antonio vs Utah, and whatever defensive matchup the finals will be.

Don't you worry, Knicks wont be one of the worst teams in the league next years, even without Bryant.

Comparing to last year, which is one of the best ever statistically wise (# of 7-game series, # of overtime games), this year looks worse than it is, especially with all the sweeps and the lack of competitive games early on, and we don't have a Game 7 or a true buzzer-beater yet (although Baron Davis' half-court shot at the end of the half is two-thumb way up material). Still I don't find this year less memorable.

Billy Donovan has been offered a 6 year/$36 million deal to coach the Magic. If he accepts, I see Orlando as one of the top 2 seeds in the East next year, mainly due to the previous coach's incompetence as much as for Donovan's strengths.
Kobe is so damn overrated. I can't wait for him to be traded and see his inflated LA respect/media hype diminish back to reality just as it had happened with Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, etc. Lakers was destined to suck next year anyway with or without Kobe so hopefully they get some value out of him while it is still relatively high.

How could you not like the Cleveland and Detroit series? It's come down to the wire in all 4 games and has featured some great clutch shots and performances down the stretch of each game. It appears headed for 7 games and is a repeat of a 7 game series last year. Even as a non-fan of either team, that's good basketball.
The only way you'd hate a series like that is if you hate to see any defense played and merely want to see teams chuck up 3 pointers all game long. I guess I don't get the anti-defense crowd... in every other sport defense is glorified. If you pitch a shutout in baseball, it was a great performance. If a goalie shuts down the opposing team, it was a great game. If an NBA team shuts down an opponent it is "ugly" or "boring".

No way Orlando becomes a top 2 seed in the East merely by a change of coach. They weren't even a .500 club last year and they don't have a 1st round pick this year (it went to Detroit). It's also not like Brian Hill was a bad coach either. They simply aren't going to rise above Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Washington, or Miami by a coaching change alone. I'd even doubt they'd be able to beat Toronto (an up and coming team) or New Jersey. Heck, if Kobe went to NY, I'd doubt Orlando would even make the playoffs then.

Not to mention, most likely no Grant Hill, who has been playing pretty good last season, especially at the start of it, when Orlando was one of the best eastern teams.

Yeah, Magic will become a top 2 in the East because of a freakin coach change, we all know that college coaches always make such an amazing impact in the NBA............

The Magic are already a playoff team, despite having a shitty coach. Now they're gonna get a good coach... so they should at least be Top 5.
And Tony... Once the Suns-Spurs series ended, so did the playoffs. And I LOVE the Pistons.

A better coach can't move them up 3 spots?!
Toronto, Miami, New Jersey, and Washington are all gonna drop in quality next year.

How has the guy proven he's a better NBA coach? Theres no basis to that statement.
It's really a bad move, Magic are a young team now they have a young rookie NBA coach, it's not gonna end well.

I never said he was a good NBA coach. I just said he was a good coach, in comparison to their last coach. They should win at least 5 more games than they did this year, and that should bump them up to Top 5.
Game. Set. Match.

NJ, presumably yes. Miami, maybe... They're getting older but being healthy for a full year could balance it out. They won't drop below Orlando anyways.
Toronto and Washington aren't dropping worth shit. I can't even see the logic there, especially for Washington. You do remember how their season was butchered a month before closing right?
Only way Orlando can challenge top 5 next year is if they pick up VC or some other free agent, as much as I hate him.

Toronto is a TERRIBLE team. Did you not watch it's NJ series?!? NJ SUCKS. Miami is only getting older, and I don't think Wade will be even close to 100% at any point during the year. That's 3 teams, Orlando = 5

Orlando will be 5 games under playoff spot. Atleast.
No Hill, Nelson again doing pg duties, no pick, east getting stronger, Milicic maybe out as well? They do have some money under the cap though, if they get Lewis or Wallace, they might not suck *that* much. If they get Carter? Yikes, that'll be lousy move for them imo.
But anyway, they'll be closer to worst record in league, then to 8th playoff spot.
I'd bet ChipMunky's reputation on that.

I mean really, how can you shite on all these other teams but be so pro Magic? Do you ever watch Magic play? They arent good, they'll have problems next year dealing with 76ers, Knicks, and Pacers for that 8th spot.

Nebs... You wouldn't make much on that bet...
And the East is not good. Not good.

Eh, Pacers just got Jim O'Brien as a coach.
They replaced Carlisle with him...
Another Bird's blunder.

I don't see how Toronto is going to drop; they are such a young team, and most people picked NJ over them in their series mainly because of the discrepancy in experience, but they have such upside with Bosh, Bargnani, Ford, and others. It's like the whole team is under 25 years old.
If anything, Pitino (at Boston), Montgomery, Tim Floyd all show college coaches have a hard time adapting the pros. I was glad Coach K didn't the Lakers job a couple of years not just because of the Duke tie, but also his reputation could only be going down if he bolted, and I do think a lot of Coach K's mystique is his reputation since he has been out-coached in numerous key games this decade.

It's logic Chip... Orlando starts Darko Milicic. Nuff said.
I think VC might work in Orlando, I think he'd do better on a lousy team where's he's the "star". Howard won't be handling the ball, so he'll have time to hog it all he wants. Either way they won't get better than 6th even if they do get him.
I think the Bucks do good next year. Redd/Bogut/Villa/6th pick/a PG acquistion... good for 6th-8th, they were on their way this year until injuries hit in Dec. and they decided to tank from there. Celtics and 76ers and Hawks will also be a lot better. Even Bobcats were starting to win a bit last year, I like their lineup.
Orlando wouldn't have made it this year if the competition didn't suck. Indy after the GS deal was horrid, 76ers were too far behind before the Nuggets switch to catch back up, Knicks are lazy and died after Isiah deal.

You guys keep pumping up all these shitty teams like they have a shot in hell. They all sucked last year, they're gonna suck again next year, unless something weird happens and all of them get some great players.
Orlando isn't going to DROP in quality. Howard is going to be one of the greatest "big men" ever.
