Ah fuck, the West gets even more ridiculous. At least we won't have to deal with them. Oden, Roy, Randolph, Alderidge... get a playmaker and they become scary. They already didn't really need him as much as some teams. Happy to see Seattle with #2, I kind of want them to stay in that city.
If I was Memphis I would draft Yi just so you could get some fan support and popularity, I don't think any single player picked at #4 will help them right away no matter what they do. Boston... no comment.

Well I'm not completely bummed like I was a second or two ago. The Celtics will trade the 5th pick along with some of the younger players on the team and will hopefully get some veteran talent in return. Hopefully no one gets injured next year and they can make the playoffs once again.
If not you'll see 5,000 fans regularly at every 41 games this season.

Portland & Seatle got the powers now. They can,if they want, trade their picks for a superstar. I'm sure there's a team willing to trade their superstar for the future.

Look like Yi JianLian will most likely be drafted by Boston since Chinese authority wouldn't want him to play for Memphis with a small Asian community, but don't think that's the best place for his development given the pressure and possible impatience from the fans. The best places for him, Seattle and Phoenix, are no longer in play, although I do still like the idea of him ending up in the East.

Personally, I'd pick Durant. Every time I caught one of his games on TV during the NCAA season, I was always blown away by just how head and shoulders above everyone else on the court he was. It seemed like he could hit a shot from anywhere on the court, whether he was open or not. I also saw solid rebounding and defense, which you normally lose a bit when you're dealing with such a great, natural scorer. Oden would be fine and would be nice to have for Duncan and the other great bigs in the league, but I think Durant changes your team instantly and will be a 30/10 guy for most of his career.

They'll both be extremely dumb if they do trade - especially Seattle.

I'm gonna have to get league pass just to watch Portland play now.
Seattle....meh, they are still gonna have problems making it into the POs

Mark it down. He will never play one game in a Celtics uniform. And impatience is a polite way of putting how the fans will feel. Unless Anige can pull off a blockbuster deal, the feeling in Boston about the Celtics would go (And tonight has gone) from excitement to indifference.

I'd draft the young franchise player and trade an existing star (like Lewis in Seattle's case) for another star at another position.

Yeah, don't think either of them will trade their picks. After all, both Oden and Durant are touted as superstars in the making.
Btw, Memphis, Boston and Milwaukee were also the biggest tankers in season. If I'd be a believer in karma...

The Jazz need to do something here to at least get me interested, let alone anyone else outside of Utah and San Antonio.

Or the Celtics. They're desperate to get their fanbase back now that they got fucked in the lottery. I'm not sure how that would work with Pierce though.

Only sign-and-trade for both teams. And not sure there's anything that Nets might fancy from them.

I'm sure that last non-call against Lebron will be debated for eternity in the sports news world, but there were more than a couple terrible calls against the Pistons near the end (the goaltending on Sasha Pavalic's shot, the call against Rasheed for pushing, when he never touched anybody...). And the refs rarely call those shots at the end of the game, especially when it wasn't even that bad!
Also, I do hope the league institutes flopping as a penality next year as I get tired of watching guys like Hinrich and Varejao flopping every couple minutes!
All I know is if the Pistons ever get on track, this series is over... Tayshaun Prince is 1-18 in this series, and he came in as the 2nd highest scorer on the team with a great percentage. And Chauncey has been nearly non-existent.
Lastly, I enjoy these slow paced smash-mouth games no matter what anybody else says. Give me a well played defensive game any day over one with no defense and 50 3 point shots.

Cavs have put up a better fight than I thought they would, if Brown was someone who is not consistently outcoached in late game situations, they could've easily stole homecourt in one of those games. I think not capitilizing will hurt them though.

I agree... the Cavs have been tougher than I thought they would be so far, but I do think Brown is not the best coach. Some of his decisions really leave me puzzled. I thought with the ball, down by 1, and 24 seconds on the clock that they should have gone for a quicker shot to allow for plan B if they miss. I also think he should play some of his younger guys more (Gibson, Pavalic) and less of Larry Hughes.
On good nights I can get a Cleveland sports AM radio station (1100 WTAM) in and I enjoy listening to the Cavs fans rip their own team right and left. It's good fun.

I could blame the refs but we gave that one away ourselves. What is with the Cavs and awful third quarters?
I didn't actually watch the game because of Pirates. Glad I didn't. This is worse than being blown out.

From the Celtics? The Celtics are one of if not the youngest teams in the NBA who are desperate to get older to make their fans excited. And since it seems that the Nets are trying to shop around Carter, I think the two if they wanted, could reach a deal. And although the #5 pick doesn't help the Celtics as a team, it will help them get a trade done despite it not being the #1, #2, or even #3.
Do I think it will happen though? No, because I think the Nets will ask for Al Jefferson, who is basically the only untradeable player on the team. And even with Ainge's desperation, I don't think he will trade away Jefferson.

Btw Tony, whether the game is defensive or offensive doesn't matter much for me as long as they teams play with energy and drive, and as long as the two teams are really invested in beating each other. GS and San Antonio have been two of my favorites to watch in this year's playoffs and they're on opposite sides of the fence, as much as I don't want the Spurs to win yet again. Houston was good stuff too.
On the other hand NJ is flat out boring despite having high flying stars and a fast pace. I didn't even like watching the series with Toronto as much as I wanted to, and that was my team, a team that was consistently one of the most exciting in the reg. season. Nets just kill any energy, brought the series down... ditto for going against the Cavs.
I think what works best is contrasting styles actually. San Antonio, Utah, Detroit are extremely fun to watch if the other side is someone star-studded or fast like Miami, Phoenix, GS, Houston, ones can carry the play and game with them and create explosion. I don't really like either of these semi-final match-ups because it's just a bit too slow and defensive, and because it's obvious who will win, but anyways.

I certainly haven't see a foul there. But many people are spoiled by Wade-James-Bryantofbefore 'fouls', that they might've really think there was a foul.
Jmart, sorry, ofcourse there are players Nets would be interested to take from Celtics, what I meant actually is, in any realistic scenario, Nets wouldn't like what you guys would offer. I also think it'll be incredibly bad idea to trade for Vince Carter in any way. He's a no defense chucker who'd like around $20 million per season. Plus you have a guy who's better anyway at that position.

The Nets are offering Carter, who can opt out of his current contract, a three-year deal in the $14 million to $16 million range, the Bergen Record reports. (May 23)
