They did it on Sunday night. They should've won by 14+ and managed to win by a measly 7 points. That's escaping with a win.
Doesn't really matter though. They're 8-0 and you're bitching about the word escaping.

jmart007 wrote: First things first. You're comparing a three Super Bowl victories to a Week 9 football game? Want to compare some pre-season games too?
I didn't want to have to, your admited love of the Patriots made me. So let me understand this. In super bowls, teams can't escape with wins? They only win it? So if that were somehow Colts vs. Patriots in the super bowl (which can't happen, but hypothetically speaking) the Colts would have won that game outright and wouldnt have "escaped" with a win?
(by the way, Im not saying the Patriots "escaped" with any wins, cause in my opinion, they won those 3 games outright.)

Cause I think you're looking to put them down because you're a Patriots fan and they beat your team.
The word "escape" implies they shouldn't have won that game.

My love of the Patriots really ticked you off? Get over yourself. A bunch of words on a message board did this?
Yes they would've escaped with the win. They played against a sucky team on that night and only managed to win by seven. And I guess the Patriots escaped with all three wins in the Super Bowl. It's not like the teams they were competing with were competitve or anything (Unlike Sunday's game where the Patriots couldn't get out of their own corner).
This is what it comes down to.
The Patriots had to earn their Super Bowl's. On Vinateri's two field goals, Brady had to march them down the field first.
The Colts in Week 9 against the Patriots were up by 10, and held on to win by 7 despite the fact that Brady and his recievers, plus Belicheck's gameplanning didn't show up. That's ESCAPING.

That's it, Im done debating sports on this forum.
First it's "Tom Brady isn't a great QB" and now it's "They escaped with a win despite dominating the game."
You're all insane.

If Brady doesn't throw an interception on the final drive, or if the Patriots didn't turn the ball over four times before, the Colts wouldn't have won that game.

No, I love the Patriots too, in a strictly platonic way as Im a Bears fan. It's that you AREN'T MAKING SENSE.
Dominating game, but not deserving of a win.

No, you pretty much got the gist of it. To make sure though.....
The Patriots still could've stolen the game out from under them. That's why they escaped, despite dominating the entire game.

to me there seems to be alot of bs in this thread. On NE, they were a 6-1 team coming in, playing at home giving up about 14 points a game, doesn't exactly seem like a sucky team. How were they guaranteed the win if Brady doesn't throw that interception. and with all of the turnovers, maybe the colts get some credit for those extra ones, even if NE did it by not handling the pressure. in ending, not giving the colts the credit for "winning"the game.

They'll probably lose to the Bills this weekend. No kidding either. They will beat all the teams that they should and then out of nowhere, there will be one team that has no business beating them that will...like the Titans almost did.

Brady is still better than Manning, whether they go undefeated or not

Brady threw those interceptions but they were well timed and deserving ones. The Colts defense that night was exceptional.

Except against the run, if the Pats had ran the ball more they would have won. They went into that game with an awful game plan. The Colts rushing defense will be their downfall. I think if they play the Chargers, Ravens or Chiefs, three teams with great running back, they will lose.

They just barely got past Buffalo today at home. They're next game is in Dallas. I'm calling it right now. They'll lose next week to Dallas, which is something I would've never said three weeks ago.

Most likely not but it's not Impossible. Problem is when teams get close they decide to rest their freakin stars for the last 3 games or whenever they've sewed up home field.
