 The Boxing Thread.
I had one of these at mojo, now im going to start it here.
This has been a year with great combacks, shocking defeats and times where once great fighters were ko'd.
Lennox lewis retired.
Roy jones got KO'd for the second straight time, prooving that he was infact overrated.Roy beat a good james Toney and an inexpirienced bernard hopkins over 10 years ago. After that he was fighting tomato cans,The majority of boxing analysts used to say Roy was the best Pound for pound fighter,Pnly the boxing fans dissagreed with them.Nad looked what happened once Roy faught a good fighter(Tarver),He got knocked out in 2 rounds, then Roy got Knocked out real bad by a B level fighter in the 9th round.Roy should retire,he's a good boxing commentator and he should stick to that. How funny that now boxing analysts are saying Roy was overrated all along.
Oscar de la hoya got knocked out by great middleweight Bernard Hopkins.I actually think(along with many)That Oscar took a dive,he didnt want to continue and take that asskicking by Hopkins.
Felix "Tito" Trinidad return after 2 and a half years of being retired, and he faught against dangerous hard hitting Ricardo Mayorga. And Tito came back better than ever, dominating mayorga and koING him in the 8th round.Tito lost by TKO in the 12th against Hopkins in 2001,Thats his only loss. One of the reasons why Tito is liked by so many boxing fans is that In the hopkins fight he took his beating like a man for 12 rounds.Tito has never been in a boring fight, hopefully hopkins will give him a rematch.
Look at my sig,The one in the left is when Tito knocked out Fernando Vargas and the one in the right is when Tito knocked out Mayorga.

James Buster Douglas is the man, not only has he ballooned to well over 300 pounds, he will always have the satisfaction of knocking out Mike Tyson when everyone thought "Iron" Mike Tyosn was invincible. Of course few people remember that in that bout douglas was almost knocked out a round or two beforehand.

Am i right in thinking Klitschko is fighting Danny Williams for the title in about a month or so? Man right now there is no competition at all in the heavyweight ranks, i mean DANNY WILLIAMS for god sake. I would have preffered to see a Tyson rematch before this. Having a title fight with Klitschko is far too soon for him, and seriously im willing to bet the fight will be over in 4-5 rounds. And as for Williams' win against Tyson, i still put it down to luck. If Tyson was half the fighter he was in his day it would've been over in two.

The Heavyweight division is a joke. And it looks like it will stay that way for a very long time.

Saw a re-run of the Shane Mosely vs Winky Wright match last night. Great match, Mosely should've won imo.

Mainly because, it seemed Mosely was doing all the work and landed more punches than Winky. In some rounds Winky looked dead, but when he took those two shots to the head - it was cool.

The Mosley- Winky fight was amazing, I was there in person and it was awesome. I think Mosley won, but I can completely understand why they gave it to Winky. A Winky vs Trinidad fight would be good, Winky is alittle underrated so I think it would be close, but Trinidad would probably win.

Yea, the first 2 fights were amazing, I'm hope this one is as good, but probably not, the 3rd ones always are the worst.

That was a great exciting fight!
Barrera won by majority decision and it was well earned.

Yea, I don't know how deserving Williams was, all he really did was beat Tyson which isn't that hard anymore.......

The Winky Wright vs Trinidad fight was last night and from what I hear Winky kick Trinidad's ass. One of the judges gave ALL of the rounds to Winky, and the other two only gave Trinidad one round. I'm personally glad, I think Winky is underrated , and I'm not a Trinidad fan. Winky will probably try fighting Hopkins for his next fight, which would be interesting.

Tito got schooled last night. This guy took everything hopkins did against tito back in 2001 right and expanded on it minus a knockdown which i think he could have done to tito a few times.
