Post World Series of Poker 2006
Anybody following the progress online? I know Eagle must be. I just realized it's going on when I saw ESPN's ad on upcoming schedule. So what's the big news so far this year? Briefly looked at all the event results and saw fewer familiar names. Look like Phil Hellmuth won his 10th bracelet. My favorite Ivey didn't win another one, although he did cash.

As for the main event, a lot of big names from 2004-2005 are out, but last year's champion Joe Hachem is still in. Pretty impressive with a field over 8,000.

Ok, guess this means I wont be visiting this thread anymore. I like to wait till the last 5 minutes till I know who won a tournament.

Joe Hachem is out, losing pocket Aces to triple Jacks. Brutal. Reminded me the way Reymer was crippled last year. 238th place.

Now that Dan Negreanu's been knocked out, she's the only "name" player left. The only other names I recognize are Humberto Brenes and David Chiu, but they're not really well known, I just happened to see them on an episode of World Poker Tour.

Oh, and for people who are reading the live updates, how about that big hand for Weikai Chang? I can't wait to see that on TV.

David Chiu is out. Allen Cunningham is still in. I also recognize Jeffrey Lisandro.

Also ESPN will have a good time with Phil Hellmuth's 10th bracelet. He won a huge hand on the river to survive (full house vs flush) his all-in before winning.

Allen Cunningham has won several big events and even won the "Most Underrated Player" award at the Card Player Player of the Year awards. He was also once voted "Best All Around Player Under 35." If I had to put my money on anybody to make the final table right now, I'd pick him as the favorite despite him being in the middle of the pack in chip stacks.

Down to 90 some players.

Cunningham is definitely one of the best. He has 4 bracelets now, right?

Annie Duke is surviving and trying to get back to average stack.

As for the telecast, I'm also looking forward to seeing the episode that covers the event where Ivey and Farha went head to head at the end.

Is ESPN covering the final days?....LIVE?

The only naem left that i recognize is Brenes, and he is down to 600,000 chips. I don't like him anyway and i hope he goes out before the big money is given away. He is too cocky. I like the fact that another unknown looks like they are going to win.

No, no live coverage yet.

Three tables left Cunningham is 14th in chips. Jamie Gold should be able to cruise to the final table.

Jamie Gold just continues to dominate. Is it that he that great this year, or is he getting the cards? He had trips to someone elses trips, but his kicker was better...that's when you know things are going your way.

Cunningham doubled up and is now 2nd in chips. Good call Alex.

I can't believe the guy called that all in with pocket 9's. Why? Why would you come that far and then clal a stupid all in with pocket 9's. I am far from the best player in the world, but with a check raise all in, the guy calls. I immediately would have put guy on trips, and with an overcard, it would have made me fold. I think it was a dumb call on the other eguys part. Great for Cunningham though.

Jesus, Jamie Gold called with with 8-7 off suit and flopped a nut straight. The advantage of having a huge chip stack and playing more pots.

Jamie Gold's luck continues. I hope Cunningham win a big pot against him, but that will have to wait until tomorrow since they're obviously not going to endanger their guaranteed spots at the final table.

He is getting all the cards, and that is crazy. You can't fault him for winning, but he has certainly gotten all the cards. There was one hand where a guy had A5, the flop came A5, and he pushed all in, Gold called with aJ and a J turn came on the turn...luck...unreal luck.

That's a potential problem with over 8000 players starting out and more than $80M chips in total. Even with 20 players left, the chip count could be so disproportionally tilted toward one player, and he can muscle and bet on pretty much everything. One break, he is going to eliminate a player. I mean, at his current table, he has a 7-to-1 chip advantage over all except for Cunningham.
