It won't fall more than 50% for two straight weeks.

WOTW got a B+ on its first day of reviews mainly due to people being overhyped for a movie that they have to give a high grade. It happens alot to event movies where we dont know the actual grade until few weeks later after its release. Grading is good if you arent grading anything that doesnt fall into the tentpole category but look at the actual poster reviews in BOM,RT and imdb so you would get an actual feel if its mixed or not.

Magnus wrote: Its mixed on the positive side to me. From what I've seen on IMDB, BOM, this site, and the fansites, it seems like no one really hates it, but no one really LOVES it aside from the extreme fanboys. Most are giving it either a B/B+/A- for the film. It isn't mixed like DVC, but its not that positive, and its not positive enough I think that it will survive POTC2.
That said, I'm leaning towards a 5-day multiplier of 2.3 now, though I'm expecting a bigger opening.
Oh, and BOG has it at a 135m 5-day...which is pretty high.
Good analysis, thats why I said mixed along the same way as WOTW because even though a few people liked it they were disappointed at one end of the spectrum and thats the ending. WOTW also was more on the positive side but even when it was positive people were still let down by the hype

reviews seem to either say its the greatest thing ever or its a mammoth dissapointment. judhging from polls, more people are being blown away then dissapointed; ill determine how i see it going when i see it.

I dont think Zing implied anywhere were SR would fall 50% two straight weeks in a row, I dont think even WOTW fell 50% on its 3rd week and especially when SR third week competition is only Little Man and You, Me and Dupree I pretyt much doubt it. I could see SR 2nd week fall closer to 65% though because of all the factor of mixed reaction on the slight positive side, POTC2 opening, the inflated holiday weekend, and it being a comicbook movie with a huge fanbase

That was the exact samething for WOTW. Either people were very impressed or greatly let down. The comparisons are very parallel

Zing said it would fall faster than WOTW, which fell 53% on its 2nd weekend and another 50% on its 3rd weekend. While I think the 2nd weekend drop of SR would be bigger, I believe it'll stabilize on its 3rd week and for the rest of its run, given the competition.

This kind of WOM + POTC2 + holiday = 55%+ drop on 2nd weekend.
But I will say that out of the all the live-action blockbusters this year, this seems like it is getting the best reaction. Only problem is POTC2 of course, because not only is that the most hyped film of the year, but I have a feeling it is going to get the best reaction. People are going to love it simply because its Pirates. Honestly, I really think A LOT would have changed if POTC2 was released a week later.
True about the movies this year, it seems to be disappointing everyone left to right. Its no wonder they all had a 55% drop the second week excluding MI3 that already had to settle for a disappointing opening

Tell me a movie at a night time showing that doesnt have CLAPPING at the end *gasp*, more than 50% of night time shows Ive seen have clapping
If it was matinee and people were clapping, I would be surprised because the only matinee shows lots of clapping in the end were Spiderman 2, Passion of the Christ and Batman Begins

Last year, the BO was down but most of the blockbusters actually DID NOT dissapoint really.
For the most part last summer, the only movies that even opened to more than 60 million was SW and WOTW. This summer we would have 5 opening past 60 million. And last summer we had countless bombs like KOH, Stealth, and The Island. So far the only major bomb is Poseidon

SR could cross 3.5 multiplier from its 3-day, like WOTW did, but considering it's released on a Wednesday, it shouldn't count.

WOTW after FF,CATF, and WC opened got off easy its 4th week because of Stealth and Island bombing the following weeks. SR 3rd week should be easy because I could even see You, Me and Dupree opening below Little Man . Its 4th week could be questionable because Monster House and Lady in the Water could open to 30 million each. LITW could even be taking away some theaters away from SR like how WB redistributed its theaters for CATC away from BB. Miami Vice will definately take away most of its audience if SR remaining moviegoers are adults

People clapped after Click last weekend. No one clapped after Superman Returns, just during one scene in the film. It's not like "hey, people clapped! awesome WOM!" It's not excellent WOM, it's just mixed.
