What World Cup Winning Team Was The Best
I think it was England '66, they were truly phenomenal. Italy 82, and any Brazillian team with Pele was amazing too.

Probably the Brazil 1970 side.

Exactly. Brazil 1970 was the culmination of all the great things they did during the late 50s/60s and would mark a high point in Brazillian soccer for the next few decades. I still contend that England '66 was better, though. Can't beat Charleton and Law, baby!

It's a shame Cruyff never got to win. I think Holland should have beaten Germany in the '74 final, but it just didn't work out.

Are you guys being serious? I think the '50 Uruguay team never gets the credit they deserve, they are the only team to win against the home team in the final. They won their first two WCs. The '58 Brazil team is the only non-European team to win in Europe. '74 Dutch team was the best to never win and the '94 Brazil team is probably the best of the last 2 decades. Italy was an extremely talented tough defensive team that year and the US was a good neutral site, so I think Brazil's win was more impressive than other teams wins. Argentina's teams from '86 and '78 should be mentioned but '78 was at home and Maradonna didn't score in '86. Germany '74 and England '66 were at home. Germany '90 were lucky, efficient and boring as hell. I doubt they would have won many other years. France was a fluke but exciting to watch.
1. '70 Brazil
2. '58 Brazil
3. '50 Uruguay

Beating Brazil in Brazil? I know they got a lucky draw (not their fault the Scots got too drunk and missed their plane) but still beating Brazil in Brazil, that has to account for something. The Uruquay teams of the 30s and 40s don't get any respect from the Europeans because Uruquay wouldn't travel to Europe and the S. Americans resented them for beating them when they were a small country. However, they beat the best teams of the era consistently and didn't just play when they had the best team like Brazil tended to do up until after the war (I am talking about matches outside the World Cup).
I read a book back in the 1970s that argued this team was much better than they ever got credit for and that their upset masked how good they really were.

Well, it was NO GOAL!!
And I think Portugal was 66 better than England as well. Wasn't Eusebio the best scorer that year?

You were beaten fair and square. If portugul were better, how comes we dumped them out pretty comprehensively? And yes Eusebio was top scorer, 8or10 goals i think.

Eusebio had 9 goals. Impressive, and he was arguably the best player in the cup. England, however, scored to goals before Eusebio made it 2-1 with something like 10 minutes to go.
