I say that because Christopher Reeves was the one who was directing this movie before he passed away. Then his wife took on the director duties and did half of the film but unfortunately she passed away too So everyone if you loved Christopher reeves as superman (i know i did) then you all should support EVERYONE'S HERO. We have to make this movie a huge hit so that Christopher's dream movie doesn't go waste. btw i came to know all this when i was watching ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT yesterday night. We have to support it. Who is with me?? http://www.everyoneshero.com/I'll check it out - but it sounds like kind of a real-life version of The Ring or something. WTF??!????!!!!!!!!! the ring is a HORROR MOVIE!!! not a BASEBALL movie. Btw i am gald u will watch it BUT i am dissapointed by the fact that NO one except you has said anything about it. Just shows how mean some superman fans are. I think some of them don't care about Christopher reeves at all. Christopher Reeve was an asshole.

It does look like a case of desperation and it will backfire.. I just hear absolutely no one outside the small clique on the internet even caring about this..

Small clique? I think MySpace is bigger than New York City.

According to Alexa.com, which measures traffic on the internet, Myspace is the fourth most visited english site, and the fifth msot visited in the world. MySpace is definitely no small clique.

http://www.baidu.com/
The global rankings in order go Yahoo!, Google, MSN, that baidu site, then MySpace.
If you look at the most traffic from just the US, MySpace is third, behind Yahoo! and Google.

I don't think X3 got the MySpace homepage all nice and decorated up like it is for Supes. Regardless, some may blast me for it, but I think this is by far the most effective tool WB has pulled out thus far.

I think if anything this summer has taught us, its that second week drops have been extremely huge from DVC 56% drop even on a MDW to X-3's 67% drop. I know people will argue that the two I mention supposedly had bad WOM but this week proved that Cars which "supposedly" has good WOM dropped close to 50%, very high for drop for kid CGI standards. I thinkif anything it means that Superman Returns will drop close to 60% the following week even if it opens on wednesday. I could see SR 2nd weekend being below 30 million

I see a massive drop, as I've been expecting all along. If it's badly received, thanks to the emotional factor instead of action, it could drop 65%+ from it's Wednesday.

Superman will have a big second weekend drop. It's being released on a Holiday week, it's part of a frontloaded genre, it has a fanbase, it has the biggest film of the year opening in its second weekend, etc.

It won't get a $75 million opening weekend, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to determine the WOM right now. You've been saying even before reviews were released that it would have great WOM, but you can't determine it at all right now.

That's not exactly the same situation HP3 vs SHRK2

Not saying that SR won't have a big drop. It should get a 52%+ drop for sure, but I don't think 60%+ drop is going to happend if the WOM is good. While POTC2 will dominate the screens, SR will dominate everything. And in the past, we have seen films been able to survive other big films opening. Shrek 2 going against HP3 is a perfect example. Shrek 2 was fresh off of a holiday, and HP3 was the only release that weekend, simliar to SR/POTC2. Shrek 2 did suffer a fairly big drop, but it wasn't like HUGE.
That was the third weekend for SHREK 2 however and as big as POTTER 3 was there is a very real chance PIRATES 2 could develop to be 130+ or more 3 day OW.

Those are four very big reasons for it to drop hard. Shrek 2 is not a good example. As notfabio said, that was Shrek 2's third weekend, and it had great WOM. Not a good comparison.
Superman will drop at least 55% and will be more like 60%.

Plan A about SR breaking Spiderman 2's 4th of July is already over so basically plan B is now being used about how its going to have extremely good legs to reach the high 200 area even though its 5 day would just slightly be 15-20 million over BB's 5 day

I think we should definitely count how many plans the Superman loonies come up with, akin to the King Kong loonies last December.
