Yes, by about 30 mill, which does not make it a bomb.

it was quiet cause nobody was laughing. then alba says first up, its not a bird, its not a plane, its the cast from superman returns, and then they erupted. wasn texpecting that. jamie foxx then came out to literally half the applause.
then tv spot.

That's a freaking great thing for this movie's marketing.
Like I said in another thread, it's really strange that at BOM, there are fanatical fanboys expecting $400 million+, and here there are users thinking it could fall short of $200 million. I could really see it going either way: surprisingly huge or surprisingly low.

Say what you like about the film's BO prospects (I still think it'll do $200 mil easy, and has a great chance of breaking $300 mil), the poster artwork for this film is truly phenomenal.

Excellent poster. That should attract some females until Pirates steals every one of them.

no way. i could see it being a big dissapointment and stoping between 215-230 on the very low side, or i could see 325 million+ on the high side.
but under 200 million just isnt happening unless the marketing completely stops.
oh, and has anybody else bought the novel? i just finished it, and after a great first half, the action takes over, and the finale is huge mix of action and emotional. it should be a really spectacular AND touching grand finale.

Nice poster, but one could very well be disgusted at how it is trying to imitate Spider-Man. A lot of the marketing imitates Spider-Man, and I think that will harm it in the public's eyes.

True. Spiderman 2's poster of Spiderman saving Mary Jane pretty much gave the romantic substance of the movie. It worked though. This one's a bit more colorful and artistic, IMO.

I think any similarity to Spider-Man can only help Superman Returns.

I think we should direct this overly optimistic attitude towards other movies. Example:
The other day I was at Borders, and I passed by the kids section where they had a guy reading a pirate picture book aloud to a bunch of kids.
$400M+ BABY!

A Great Poster does not make for a Great movie and in no way will this movie break 300 Million Domestically.. For as much as this movie cost combined with the Marketing, it's going to have to make over 300 Million to be considered worth discussing over.. I'm telling ya, Bryan Singer will have wished he had left this alone and stuck with concluding the X-MEN Saga and as a result, he'll beg FOX to let him do X4 to get back in the good graces of what fans he has.. Just if and when he does X4, he needs to keep his Penis in his pants which I'm sure he found hard to do when working with Routh..

You forgot Casino Royale and Saw III (Assuming there's no "rape scene").

Who on earth wouldn't Pimp SPIDERMAN III at this point?? Seriously, this has all the Makings to be the BEST Comicbook Adaptation to Screen.. I'm already loving MIAMI VICE which just Reeks of Coolness and as for The SIMPSON'S movie?? 1 Word: HYPERBOLE.. They'll play this off and hype the hell out of it with all the secrecy of the story when in fact, it will be nothing short of a glorified 90 Minute Expanded Episode that won't be any better or worse than what's on FOX now.. AVP II??? 1 Word: DOGSHI*..
