While I agree with you that my prediction skills are not on teh same level as Xyian and some of the greats, you cannot say that because I predicted 250, (if i did, do youhaev proof?) for the Hulk, that it makes me only lucky when i predicted other films correctly. Everyone makes bad calls. Everyone.

Awesome, there's one billboard now. Okay, now it'll do 500 mill. That billboard looks like it's in Sweetwater TExas, or Ann ARbor Michigan or St. Thomas Ontario. (Sorry Mike Q..lol).

Its easier to laugh at people when you yourself have not predicted the Hulk. Oh and you also have some really bad predictions. I mean MI3 to make over 200 million yet you still said theres Cruise backlash and still make that amount of money. Oh and I forgot your Poseidon prediction. I guess you are now even with Baumer so there

Using someone's previous prediction for a random film against them (especially three years ago...) is a pretty weak way of arguing and certainly shows that one doesn't have enough support to back up his statement.
You said people were CRAZY for their Poseidon prediction, excel. Even up until opening day, you insisted on a big opening and total of $100 million. Do you see baumer coming into this thread and bringing that up?

I never claimed that. I have never once said that because I predicted something for one film that it means that my hunch will come true for another.

Yes, I did say that. But you are misconstruing that for me claiming that I am right just becaues I called T3 correctly. That is not what I said. I have been wrong more often than right. But I am right thistime.

I was the one who mentioned the T3 analogy because like in this forum there were only a handful of them but they were extremely relentless in their prediction, it wasnt just a 200 million prediction but they thought it could rival MR because they were insistent on everyone being disappointed with MAtrix Revolution and how MR was a copycat of Terminator. Oh and everyone who disagreed with them, one of the T3 fan would call them gay or something like that. I wish I can find that link again.

Obviously fans are looking to get some advance tickets, since it's just been announced. Thats most likely why it moved up.

Someone needs to explain to once again to Magnus who totally missed the point, where have we suggested it had NO buzz, what Zing, me, and others have been suggesting is that it doesnt have the same buzz to suggest as Spiderman or Starwars. Look back at this post that started it.
http://www.worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=150
excel wrote: SUPERMAN isnt on tv. clark kent is. and to a ton of kids that is a huge difference.
bottom line: superman is up there with spiderman and star wars as the only 3 big budget light cgi fests. release em in summer, and their usually a lock for 250 million. or over here http://www.worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=150excel wrote: You guys CANNOT be serious?
anybody who is predictiing UNDER 200 million for this is out fo their mind.
Period.
This film is costing 250 MILLLOIN DOLLARS.
Please.hwo in the whole fucking world. can that. possibly.translate. to. a. boring. movie.
also please. these "BATMAN BEGINS got 200, so supes cant beat it" arguments are bullshit.
batman begins was restarting a franchise that had once been HUGE. But only 8 years. in short, Batman was viwed as COOL in 1989-1997. after 1997 it totally stopped. people forgot about him. it takes alotmore then 8 years for a character to become cool again. and incase you didnt notice ,thats true. batman had virtually no public hype heading into its opening weeked cause anybody under the age of 20 had seen a batfilm and remembered them. they could remember them intheaters. and their toys. in short batmman wasa a figure of their childhood that was now old. itd be like trying to reintroduce beanie babies again today. itd just be very hard,
its like this. imagine have spiderman in 2002. now imagine sony waiting till 2010 just to totally redo it.
thats the situation batman had. except when he left everybody hated him.
superman is DIFFERENT. Unless you were borin in 1982- or before, you wont remember seeing a superman film in theaters. so just in terms ofthat the arguments done. superman hasnt been on the big screen in 19 years. baman was 8. so that argument is pointless. a superman movie will be much more fresh then a batman ever was because its been so long since one.
now in terms of a film-dont worry. actor/crew have all said-when compared to the donner movies-this film is much morefun and light. the teaser might seem very serious but that isnt how the film will be. this film-incase you couldnt tell from the plot-will be very similar to BATMAN in terms of plot. itll be about that good. this will just be a lot of fun.
so please. no bat comparisons. they dont work.
back to the argument.....zingaling, you said you want a reason for 400 million...give us a reason for under 200 million. supermans appeals to every possible genre but unlike fantasic four this is getting respect, will be a much better film, a waaaay bigger character name.
also look at it like this. in 05 everybody seemed to be waiting all may to seestar wars. now tell me what movie in june appeals to adults? like star wars was in may, people will be waiting for superman to come cause theyll be so much liottle kiddie crap.
Oh and for the record, bryan singer personally said, ayt princeton, that the films second teaser is ocming very soon. the point of the harrypotter one was just to tell theworld this films coming.
as of right now-superman is way more mainstream then batman. batman doesnt appeal to kids or women or people looking for comedy, while those are 3 of superman biggest audiences, while still having the action/drama/suspense to fall back on.
plus it 250 million. do you really think that there is even the SLIGHTEST CHANCE that w.b. wont market this movie? or an even slighter chance that they wont show off the effects in the trailers? please. this film has more tie ins fantastic four as is. it HAS to be marketed if w.b. doesnt weanna be sued.
personally, i think we should pay for close attention to goblet of fires numbers as i thinktheyll be similar...
this film is a legit lock for 200 million with 250 million at probably 85%
so to sum up....you think batman will beat this?what?
superman returns-which is being promised as the marketing event of next year and predicted by most as next years biggest offering(just check its numbers at hollywoodstock exchange if you dontbelieve me)- will outgross batman begins in 10 days or less.
150 million 5 day. 175 first weekend with 40 minmum second week.
From those looks like he was trying to make Superman comparable to Spiderman and SW, this is what we are suggesting that it doesnt resemble

Is...wait...no...is that Superman Returns and Superman on the 2 and 3 spot on yahoo buzz?(SR is actually tied with X-men)
A combined score of 83. Wait...I thought SR had no buzz.
This is just impossible.
That's actually pretty impressive. It's doing better then X3 was at this point.
What the hell. I'll predict this to be #2 of the summer again:
OD: 33m
Thur: 19m
3-day: 80m
Total: 262m

Magnus101 wrote: What are you talking about? You guys have been saying, and using yahoo buzz as an example, how SR buzz isn't that big. You even pointed out how X-men buzz was so much higher than it. Well, I do know that a month before its opening, X3 didn't have a combine score over 80 that's for sure.
Don't try to bullshit me and use something like, "well...its not as big as SW or SM". No one is even arguing that at all(well, I'm not at least). Hell, I don't think I will even try to argue that its buzz come release date will be higher than X3.
I didn't even say you guys said this had no buzz. My point was to show that your claims that this is has "little" buzz is inaccurate.
I'm not even saying it is at SM or SW level. So don't go trying to bunch me and excel together.
You mean this? Zingaling wrote: Oh, and since excel likes to put so much emphasis in the buzz charts right now, here's a look at Yahoo's buzz chart. http://buzz.yahoo.com/movies/X3 and Spider-Man 3 are ahead of Superman Returns? Incredible! Even Batman Begins is ahead of Superman Returns as well! excel, I think Superman is in trouble.I also saw he parts you highlighted and Zing still has a point because he wasnt comparing score but number of days on the chart. X-3 still owns SR on that department but I never really use yahoo buzz for indication because its crap and inflates fantasy movies margin too much (You see how ridiculous your arguement can get?)
You mean this quote from Zing because I didnt find anyone else trying to compare X-3 to SR on buzz chart. The number of days that X-3 stayed on the chart vs SR was the other one that Zing was comparing it to. And nope Zing wasnt using using yahoo as the bible but to throw it back at excel's face for using yahoo buzz to indicate SR success. I have always maintained how inflated yahoo buzz is for comic book movies.
Edit: Ok i posted this before I saw your message so I could kind of see you point magnus

I guess its possible it gets a 5-day multiplier if its that big over 5-days, espically considring how frontloaded openings have been this year. But...I just don't really see anything below 2.15 even with medicore WOM.
Movies like JP3 had 2.25 in 2001. Hell, Matrix Reloaded had was lower then 2.1 with 4 days. This is frontloaded, and X3 should serve as a warning of what's to come. It will have 2.1 max I'd say.

I'm not certain about the gross, but the one thing I'm certain about whatever the opening weekend is the legs.
Unless it has WOM like Batman Begins.
