If placements ads really work, I really think politicians should jump in the bandwagon and use pepsi to endorse and sway more people to vote for him. Can you imagine George W's face on a can of pepsi or John Kerry on a bag of doritos? :whaa:

Drink pepsi and vote for Bush

You act as though product placements like that are this cool, radical new thing that nobody has seen before.

wow.i guess they are not effectie at all, seeing as othermovies like spiderman 2 and sith have used them before, so their not new and dont work at all.

people hear are acting as superman having a love sotry and showing emotion is radical new thign nobody likes...when its the exact opposite. superman n lois love story is one of the most famous love storys EVER. Everyone knows, superman is with Lois Lane. they know it way better then spiderman is with mj. the only fictional love story i can think of thayt everyone knows about more then superman n lois is romeo n juliet, really.

You dont get what Positive Jon is saying. Sith and Spiderman 2 succeeded not because they have placement products but because they had a nice extablished franchise and had extreme buzz, Sith had the "last of the SW trilogy" buzz around it and Spiderman 1 had it because it was the FIRST time Spiderman has been on the big screen, the same way as the first Batman was. Do you understand? A 20 year wait for a movie whos last movie that didnt set the world on fire hardly qualifies as the latter two I mentioned. Product placement is hardly new because they have used it in all movies that they think has a kid fanbase like Babe,Madagascar, etc. You are also neglecting Superman toys have been around before movies. All this hardly qualifies as a 300 million gross when its franchise has fallen way below the grosses of SW,Indiana Jones and even Batman

Please stop comparing Superman Returns with the likes of Spiderman 2 or Sith. One is a restart (or continuation if you will) of an old series, the other sequels of recently hugely popular franchises. They didn't do gangbusters because of some tie-ins and TV ads.

EDIT:
Got beaten to it.

Seriously, do you guys need to describe every single Superman commercial that goes on the air? We get the point...

You guys go negative over the smallest things, so yes. And you were the guys who said SR had little marketing, so now we have to show you that when the release date got closer, the marketing is heavy.

At this point, this debate has been so long that we have to bring up little things now because that's all we CAN argue about now.

YEAH!! SO ALL U HATERS SHUT IT!!!

But do we really need to hear things like, "so I'm walking down the street, and this little boy is jumping out of a tree pretending to be Superman. $400+ million total"? It becomes borderline ridiculous.

I promised myself that I would no longer partake in this debate, but I thought I would add my two cents:

Singer's comments about this being his first 'chick flick' do not bode well for this film's box office prospects. If there is more teary-eyed emotional scenes than kick-ass action scenes, it will seriously cut down on both word of mouth and repeat viewers. And that will kill its legs. The opening will stay the same (roughly $50-60 million three day) but the total could be a lot lower. We all saw what happened when a comic book film took itself too seriously (The Hulk). But I suppose Batman Begins was pretty serious, too. But it wasn't sappy.

We'll just have to wait and see. ;)

you get the point?!? like hell you get the point. Our point is superman is getting sith-sized marketing in its final 3 weeks yet you saying your lowering your under 200 million club to even less...like hell you get the point! your negativity is FARRRR bigger then our positivity, so dont critque me for descriving the commercial. you complain about everything and never answerme when i call you on it. if this was xmen 3 getting a commerial like that, you would say it was good marketing. you didnt say this was bad, but instead of saynig thats some marketing that sgoodfor the movie, you get annoyed that were typing it out-a perfect display of biasness AGAINST superman and that is why noone takes your club seriously. the reason i post all the pics and descriptions is try to give posters a feel for how big the marketing will become in the coming weeks to help with predictions.

the tone will be very similar to the spiderman movies. VERY similar, actually. the 204 million dollar cost promises the big action scenes, while we know theres quite a bit of jokes in this film as well cause singer has also said this is his funniest movie. the romance supplies drama the same way it did in spiderman 1 and 2.

But don't you realize how stupid you sound? I mean, I can come into this thread and tell you that most of my friends are not interested in the film when we saw the trailer with X3, but does it matter? Would you believe me?

It's like when Magnus took a "poll" of his friends. I laughed a little. And you bring up strangers who wear the "S" shirt and think it's a big deal.

Spider-Man was very goofy, I thought. Not nearly as serious as Batman Begins, for instance. Sure, there's some romantic soap opera, but it was very colourful and had a lot of humour. Superman seems more like Batman Begins than Spider-Man.

And btw, I'm not a big fan of Spider-Man. ;)

It's hilarious how they have to describe EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL though, it just cracks me up.

Just keep going guys. It's entertaining.

i dont think its a big deal; i was making a point that superman will be big with kids thats a HUGE audience cause it means parents will come. yeah its a no brainer but so is thismovie making 200 million but somehow tons of people still dispute that. i believe you when your say your friends have no interest it right now, and o say ok, but i think they will come release when all the marketing has truly hit. if their not their not.

supes is the same way. itll be big and bright.lots of jokes we already know of, the rip to no 2 "its abird its a plane" joke in trailer, "taxi!", ect.

dont worry, superman wont be an angsty dark super serious flick like batman begins. far from it.
