Well, that gives SR and PotC2 even playing ground in terms of length and therefore how many showtimes a day; PotC2 is rumored to be, I believe, 145 minutes.

I calculated the multiplier using the 6-day. War of the Worlds had a 2.07x multiplier from its 6-day opening, so I used 2.10x and got that. But I can see that it might not have been the best way.

Ok, that sounds good to me.
Superman Returns will not break $105 million in five days.

^ im not at all. supermans 150 minute run time plus w.b.s confidence in moving up to wednesday gives me hope about its quality as its similarto batman begins legnth, and they moved batman up to wedensday late in the game (thought not this late) due to how good it was. i think thats what their doing with superman.
war of the worlds had bigger compitition then superman does, anyway. back to back 56 million openrs plsu a huge leggy hit called weding crashers. while pirates will hurt it, supes now has more time to get good wom, and willbe making les smoney opening ass so itd be a smaller drop. and dont forget, superman will have theater count over pirates by a big amount, plus word of mouth. pirates limited hteaters + extended runtimes= lots of sell outs=lots of crowd overflow for superman.
wednesday-27.3 million
thursday-17.8 million
friday-23.9 million
saturday-27.8 million
sunday-23.3 million
monday-18.8 million
tuesday-14.6 million
wednesday-7.6 million
thursday-6.5 million
friday- 11.6 million -52%
saturday- 15.7 million -52%
sunday-10.2 million- 60%
opening weekend: 75 million
5 day-120.1 million
july 4th 5 day-108.4 million
july 4th 7 day-153.5 million
10 day-180 million
2nd weekend: 37.5 million -50%
17 day- 234 million
3rd weekend: 21.9 million -42%
total-290 million
this should still break the july 4th record with ease. it needs 88 million from june 30th-july 4th.
this is my last post.

excel, you're a little blind if you can't see that WB moved it away from Pirates of the Caribbean. I highly doubt that it has to do with quality.

So many things wrong in this paragraph.

obvi it moved it up, im just saying i think itll be a better movie then most here, thinks thats all.
this gives it 7 straight days that are all like weekend days.i think should get the 3rd highest opening week ever or come close to it, just due to how its set up.
remember also, the thing with KONG and BATMAN was everybody was also still in schoolon december 14th and june 15th. everybodys out of school on june 28th. this is the same day war of the worlds open to 21, and spidey 2 opened to 40. i think well see something inbetwen

So, why exactly does this need to be 150 minutes? I can see why a movie like say, X-Men would need it (Much, much bigger cast) or Batman Begins (Introducing us to a character and telling his entire backstory), but why this? And "BECAUSE IT'S SUPERMAN DUHHHHH!" is not a valid answer, and anyone who gives will be classified "Moron" in my book.

Well, I'm just guessing there but that's what it seems like from the plot.
But we already know most of Superman's backstory from the first two Supermans, which this film is supposedly a sequel to. Do we really need 150 minutes to remind us?

Being 150min aint helping it's BO but could give it an epic feel to it. Either that or it turns out to be long and drawn out. Im sure will see alot of character development with Lex Luthor, they'll give him tons of screentime since im sure they'll kill him off in the first movie.

The last time we got an action sequence over 15 minutes, it was the car chase in The Matrix Reloaded.
And 45 minute space journey? Fun.

That's what I was thinking. That could get pretty boring.

Do we really need 150 minutes to remind us? A. Many have not seen or rememebr the backstory B. The Batman origin story had been shown in the other Batman films. While they were not accurate or true the charecter, they were still shown. Still didn't stop Batman Begins But honestly, I have no idea what its that long, considring I don't know the entire plot for it.
A. If I remember correctly, many people have seen the original Superman, no? And there's really not THAT much that needs to be known, or at least enough to make it that long.
B. We only got bits and snippets there, not a true backstory movie. Superman did, in the form of Superman (1978).

i dunno to much about it, just that some point his ship has to get away from a crumbling kryptonite rock that becomes an asteroid field, and thats what causes him to go home dying.

yeah, a lot of people have seen it. but about 95% of these people are 35 or older. and i doubt theyd remember it.
