To who??

And I don't get that move by the White Sox...I guess they're expecting to lose Konerko, although with the year Thome just had I can't see this turning out well for them.

Actually, they just lost their DH (by in "loss" I mean they released him basically. I'd personally rather have Thomas than Thome...) and they traded their center fielder to get him, so they probably still going after Konerko.

Move Podsenik to center, everret to left and Thome to DH

Personally, I think this trade is useless if the Sox dont re-sign Konerko.

I would have been more upset over this trade if Rowand wasnt our worst player in the playoffs. I like him, still do, but he let me down! Glad he got his world series ring, though.

The Blue Jays are nuts! Nuts I say! Offering a 5 year, $55M contract to Giles. He's 39!

I hope the Indians get him for a 3 year deal. This offseason hasn't gone that well so far. Lost Howry, and outbid on Ryan.

Giles was born on 01/20/1971 so he's actually 34.

Flava'd probably means Giles will be 39 at the end of his contract, and I agree that's insane paying someone $10M when he is 39. 3-year max for a 34-year old player.

somebody told me he was 39, guess they were wrong. Whatever.

Konerko has re-signed with the White Sox for 5 years, $60M. I was rather hoping he'd go to California.

Also, Indians have offed Trevor Hoffman a 2 year deal, and are talking with Paul Byrd. I like Hoffman over Wicky, but Byrd? I'd rather have Millwood back.

Probably because all the best free agents are being snatched up with ridiculous deals. Hell, if Nomar could play first base or right field (and stay healthy), he'd be a much better fit than Broussard or Blake. I'm personally still hoping for someone like Preston Wilson or Reggie Sanders, but it's seeming more unlikely by the day.

apparently the indians have made a formal contract offer to pitcher paul byrd according to http://www.indians.com

i'd take byrd. he's a solid starter. if the indians can somehow re-sign millwood (and we all know that won't happen), our rotation would be dynamic

Angels have dropped out of the race for Byrd. Even if he isn't as good as Millwood, he'll still be good for 10+ wins this year. That makes him a fine #4 starter, so signing him is a must.
