Great increase for National Treasure, and good for Spongebob. Great opening for Kranks!

I think Polar Express has a chance as well. I'm less and less certain about Alexander too.

Poor Alfie, but at least Closer is coming right up for Jude Law. Also House of Flying Daggers will be in 15 theaters next weekend. Should be interesting to track.

I think Alexander can pull off atleast a $8,000 PTA. It should have about $18-22 for the weekend. The Polar Express was really impressive yesterday. Up 25% from last week. I also think it may be able to crack $20 million.

$8,000 may be a little strong, considering all the astonishingly bad buzz it is getting.

Agreed. The tone of all the reviews really worries me now. It's not like people are bashing it because they hate Oliver Stone or they think it's too long or boring or one particular aspect. The movie seems to be bad from the beginning to the end. The buzz from early general screening is terrible as well. This is one film that needs good reviews, and I don't see how it can survive and have any kind of legs.

Alexander doesn't seem to be just bad, it seems to be a laughably horrendous Showgirls-like epic. I don't see how i can manage a $8,000 average. I'd be very happy about $7,000.
National Treasure is getting a good expansion. Look for it to drop less than 5% this weekend. The movie is pretty much a lock for $100 million in the USA and an assured hit overseas (it's being marketed the heck of, over here in Germany).
Another neat expansion for Sideways. I wonder if it'll ever reach 1,000 theatres, though. Hopefully it can somehow maintain a $5,000+ PTA this weekend. It needs to gross as much as it can to build up some monumentum for a possible Best Picture nomination.
Christmas with the Kranks is getting a predictably high theatre count and even the terrible reviews won't prevent it from making a very decent amount of money over the weekend.
Where is Seed of Chucky's theatre count? I wouldn't be surprised if it lost 1000+ theatres too.

i expected Polar to lose quite a few theaters this week, like 500 but its holding. I think it'll crack 20, just - 20,400,000

I don't see it breaking $20 million this wekend, but it might get over $18 million. It is still a lock for $110+ million in my opinion.
