what goes around comes around. Joe West made two horrible calls in game 5 of the ALDS and that gave the Angels the win. It's called Karma.

Even though he was out, the Angels still should've gotten out of the inning. The homeplate umpire didn't give up the double. Got to give the White Sox credit for taking advantage of the blown call.

I've heard different stories. They show up close that the ball actually did hit the ground. Angels fans say this isn't true. I'll have to see for myself later.

anything that happend after the bullshit call is not the angels fault.
lol it's the umpire fault. he got paid before the game by that player/coach of the sox.
IT'S A CONSPIRACY DAMNIT!

There was one replay Fox showed where I could feel the ball hit the ground, but Fox never went back to that, at least not in that slow speed.
Escobar was clearly affected by the call. All of his three pitches to Crede were hittable and didn't have the downward bite action as before.

I heard that the umpire that made that faux call will be fired after this season ends.

Quote: Mike Port, baseball's vice president of umpiring, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Eddings did nothing wrong and that umpires are not required to audibly call "No catch."
Highly doube he's getting fired. MLB is behind him on this one.

I have no idea why no one is showing that shot. I saw it again this morning, and the ball is VERY (like if it didnt hit the ground, it was a centimeter above it) close to the ground and skips up into his mit. Maybe it skipped inside of his mit and it was a clean catch, but it certaintly wasnt as clear of a catch as every person on the face of the earth is making it out to be, right now.
I guess they decided to stop showing it so there is more of a controversy (therefore, possible higher ratings!)

The issue is NOT really whether the ball was caught or not. The home umpire clearly called the the batter out (he rung him up with his fist). The play should have been dead at that point... you can't call a batter out, and then reverse it later on. That's just idiotic.

If you watched the rest of the game Tony... For a strike he pointed... then on strike 3 he pumps his fist. But earlier he did it twice when the White Sox catcher tagged someone out... this time, he only did it once... and the ball hit the ground...
Pwned?

Check my signature and you'll find evidence that you've never pwned me. So, nice try.
But, for further proof let's go to the umpire in the controversy himself...
Quote: [Eddings] admitted he was wrong in the manner in which he called it.
"I think I've got to change my mechanic a little," Doug Eddings said upon arriving at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif. Eddings' raised, clenched fist for a strike call is similar to a traditional out call. "That's why I feel bad. I should have given a safe sign."
Eddings admitted he called a dropped third strike more emphatically earlier in the game.

chippy is riiiight.
I watch baseball all the time and see lots of umpires use the fist to signify a strike. Sometimes strike 1, sometimes strike 2, etc...
