It has a better release date than Batman Begins but I don't think it will have the star power or reviews.
It balances out to about the same I think.

I'm basing it on Singer's capability.

This will be huge with kids, and that will push it over 300 million. unless Bryan Singer tries to make Supes "edgy", which would be a mistake and an insult to the character and his fanbase.

Superman is the most popular comicbook hero of alltime, but in terms of films i cant say.Superman made a great 134mill domestic and 166mill international way back in 1978,infact,it was one of the biggest international and domestic sucesses of its time. That 166mill international was better than any batman film did internationally,it made the same amount internationally in 1978 than what Batman begins did today in 2005.

None of the Superman movies have even hit 150 million so I cant see any reason why this should. It also would have a hard time getting the older generation that watched Christopher Reeve to give the movie a chance. And just like your argument about Batman Begins, it basically would have a been there done that feel to it.

I agree.
I loved Superman and Superman 2 is my most favorite superhero movie. I hope Superman Returns is good ala Batman Begins (and appeal to kids unlike Batman Begins). I hope this movie makes $450M and passes crappy Spiderman.

you do realize those films that "never made 150 million" came out 20 years ago, right? good. this isnt batman were talking about, those films are OLD. Older then the star wars movies were when episode 1 came out. with inflation superman 1 would make 370 million u.s.-840 million ww. id say a 325-750 is defiently reachable. hell, if the reception episode 1 got is any indication of what its like to ressurect a once a huge franchise that is to old to be considered "yesterday", superman could get 400 million u.s.

It has none of the hype of the first Superman movie and the second Superman movie dropped quite drastically from the first one. The first Superman movie is still pretty fresh in the minds of people over the age of 30 so they wont really have that much interest in it. What you are almost saying is that the next Superman is just going to match pretty close to the first one. 300 vs 370 million isnt that much off. Even Batman Begins despite getting better acclaim than Batman Returns and Forever didnt match their number domestically so why should Superman get that close to Superman 1 or for that matter Superman 2 in inflated numbers

1 Superman WB $134,218,018 817 $7,465,343 508 12/15/78
2 Superman II WB $108,185,706 1,878 $14,100,523 1,397 6/19/81
20% is drastic?
Superman 2 would have done a lot more business if it did not have to contend with the greatest action adventure movie of all time during its release.

If you take inflation into consideration here are the numbers
367,092,000
251,870,000
Thats quite a difference in number

Adjusted it is a 31% drop. Far superior than any of the Batman sequels wrt Batman.

Not the third and furth installment . And even Batman Returns and Forever made more than Superman 2 adjusted. Anyhow Im not defending Batman and now you mentioned the Batman sequels and further proving my point about it decreasing by each movie and none of them have so far touched the first Batman movie, why would Superman Returns be any more different? Im not saying it will bomb but its not going to be something that fresh that it will pass the 300 million elite mark
