Another pne run loss for the Tribe!!!

Are they ready to cut their ties with Broussard yet? He's had more than enough chances, and has proved he's no an everyday player.

WE SHOULDVE PUT CC SABATHIA IN. He has 4 rbis this year. A 2 run homer and a 2 run double. More than Broussard has done lately.

With the win today, Yankees will clinch the divisional title, so there is no reason not to rest everybody tomorrow except for the pleasure of forcing Red Sox into an extra game. If it hadn't been for the heated rivalry, I'd say Cleveland is 100% dead. Still, I don't see why Red Sox won't win tomorrow's game with ease.

well altleast one of the Sox won't be going to the ALCS. If the Yankees win the World Series this year I'll be happy.

I hate to pull the "cursed" card, but this is the 2nd time this year a Cleveland team has had the playoffs all but locked up and blown it in the last week. Gotta be something more to this.

haha...WTAM, the Indians flagship radio station is playing "Hurt" by Johnny Cash spiced with clips from today's game. See, Johnny Cash's reach knows no bounds. 100 million is a no brainer for Walk the Line.

Today was awesome. No one believed the Yanks could come back and then they shove everything back in the faces of the "experts" and win the division at Fenway. GREATNESS.

in "honor" of Cleveland's latest tank job, i present "the list." The most memorable Cleveland tank jobs of the last 25 years. There have been many, many more than this but these are the cream of the chokejob crop.

1.) 1980 AFC Divisional Playoffs. Browns vs Raiders. With the Raiders leading 14-12 late in the 4th quarter, the Browns are driving and are within range of the game winning field goal. But with the windy cold weather, Sam Rutigliano decides to go for the TD instead of risking a missed FG. The infamous "Red Right 88" play is called, and the rest is history. Brian Sipe's pass is intercepted in the end zone, ending the Browns hopes. Raiders win 14-12 and go on to, of course, win the super bowl.

2.) 1986 AFC Championship Game. Browns vs. Broncos. The Browns had just gotten the go ahead TD with 5:48 to play in the 4th quarter, and it seemed they were on their way to the super bowl after pinning the broncos on their own 2 yard line with the ensuing kickoff. John Elway then embarks on "The Drive." He led the Broncos 98 yards to the game tying score, sending the game into OT where the Broncos promptly won with a FG. Broncos 23, Browns 20. Denver advances to the super bowl.

3.) 1987 AFC Championship Game. Browns vs Broncos. The Browns trail 38-31 late in the 4th quarter but are in the red zone with just minutes remaining. Bernie Kosar hands off to Ernest Byner. He's to the 5 to the 4 to the 3 to the 2....he....fumbles the football and the Broncos have recovered!! Browns Lose 38-33. Denver once again advances to the super bowl as cleveland's hearts are crushed.

4.) 1989 NBA Playoffs. First Round, game 5. Cavs vs Bulls. The Cavs led by one point with just seconds left and looked poised to advance to the next round of the playoffs. The Bulls inbound to Michael Jordan who promptly hits "The Shot", sending the Bulls to the win, and the next round of the playoffs. , and sending Cavs fans home saddened.

5.) 1995 World Series. Indians vs. Braves The Indians, who steamrolled their way to a 100-44 record that season, seemed poised to end 47 years of frustration and win the series. But the Indians lay an egg and lose the series and give Atlanta their only world series title in their string of 13+ straight division titles.

6.) 1997 World Series. Game 7. Indians vs Marlins. The Indians bring a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning, needing just 3 more outs to end 49 years of heartache. But alas, Jose Mesa comes in and promptly allows the game tying run, sending the game into extra innings where the Marlins would ultimately win 3-2 on Edgar Renteria's game winning single. The misery continues for the Tribe while the 4 year old Marlins celebrate a title.

7.) 1999 AL Division Series. Indians vs Red Sox. The Indians storm out to a 2-0 series lead and seem like they will just roll over Boston, but the Indians proceed to start a collapse of monumental proportions. They lose the next 3 games, including one by a 23-7 score, and Boston marches on while Cleveland marches home.

8.) 2000 Wild Card Race. The Indians put on a late season surge, storming into the wild card lead in the final weeks, but stumble up against some bad teams late in the year and find themselves on the outside looking in when the season ends.

9.) 2001 AL Division Series. Indians vs Mariners. The Indians jump out to a 2-0 series lead against the 116 game winning Mariners. They seem poised to complete one of the biggest upsets of all time, but once again fall on their face and lose 3 straight, allowing the Mariners to move on to the ALCS, while Cleveland Fans are left to cry in their beer.

10.) 2002 AFC Wild Card Game. Browns vs Steelers. The Browns roar out to a 24-7 lead but cannot hold the lead once again. The Steelers storm back and eventually win the game 36-33, sending Cleveland home disappointed once again.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many, many more heartbreaking moments i could list but it would take me all night. Any more questions about Cleveland being the most tortured sports city? I thought not....

Pfft, they should've played Nine Inch Nails' version, instead!

That call kind of annoys me. Not because it's the Yankees winning, but because it annoys me.

Haven't read much into it but I still don't understand the Yankees getting the divivsion even if they are tied. They already had a coin flip for the game to be played at Yankee stadium but the Yanks are getting it based on stats rather than playing it on the field with the playoff game.

Another bone headed decision by baseball rule-makers.

bump for today - looks like no one is giving the Indians a chance for that tie and a playoff game.

Right now, that is smart thinking and Clev is losing by 2 and Boston is winning early by 1.

They choked, and no matter how anybody tries to spin it, it doesn't change the fact that they choked.

well, they choked. But we shouldn't have even been close. The first two months of the season were really bad. But we game back and almost took it. Typical of a Cleveland team to tease us, then lose. However, we had a great season. Far above expectations.

Next season is all gonna depend on who we can resign. We need to expand our budget and get Millwood back at all costs. Same with Howry. Can't let those two go the Yankees/Mets. Wickman says he wants to come back, and if we can get him at a good price, let him. Belliard is a team option and I can't see us letting him go. Sauerbeck would be nice, but whatever. We can let Hernandez, Juan Gone, and Riske go. Riske is overpaid and we've got Carbrera to take his place. There's also Elarton, and I'm stumped whether we should keep him or not. That's all our free agents.

I say we put Broussard in Hernandez's place as back up first baseman. The top 1B free agents this year are Delgado, Konerko, and Millar. If we can afford them, we must get one. We could use a #6 man and move Belliard down to #7. Boone is good at #8, even though he needs work. Blake has potential, so let's keep him around.

As for pitching, maybe another guy in the bullpen. If we lose Millwood or Elarton then we'll need a damn good starter to replace them.
