Raymer is now back in first as he lucked out and beat some guy who:
Greg Raymer eliminates Gen Watanabe
Gen Watanabe pushed in pre-flop with pocket [J♥][J♣] for about 80k and was called by Greg Raymer who turned up [6♣][8♥]. The board came an unbelievable [7♠][2♠][3♠][5♥][9♣] giving Raymer a runner, runner, straight on the river to take the hand. Gen Watanabe was eliminated.
That is a tough break....imagine being Watanabe...that is enough to make you cry.

wow that is a heartbreak. But what was Reymer thinking calling on a 6 8 suited? I know he knew had a straight possibility, but if someone goes for All-in its obvious they have a better hand then you.

Raymer had over a million chips, the guy went all in with 80 grand.....less than 10% of his chips to call.

He had over $1M in chips, and Watanabe had only $80K left when he moved all in, so it didn't cost Raymer much even though the odd was very much not in his favor. He just took an inexpensive chance. Still, being able to win with two off-suit undercards against a pocket pair is some luck.

Well, Raymer got schooled this time:
Farzad Bonyadi takes a big pot
On a board of [J][5][5][A][5] Farzad Bonyadi made a 90k bet. Greg Raymer raised the bet to 240k and was re-raised by Bonyadi to 640k. Raymer mucked his hand and Bonyadi turned up [K♥][8♥] for [K] high.

Well, I like to think of Raymer as a true poker afficionado. He has proven that he can win the whole thing and is either chip leader or close to it, so my money is on him...but Ivey is lurking in the weeds, so it is possible that he will take it as well. I'm sticking with Raymer.

Thats Poker.
Another thing on Greg Raymers call with 6-8. I imagine he was in the blinds, or already invested in the hand.

Phil Ivey has made major moves at night, while Raymer's momentum has stalled.

Raymer went all in with his $1.2M against Tex Barch, who had $2M. Barch folded after some long thought.

Raymer is down to about 700k ... enough to play with, but he needs more.
Ivey has over 2,000,000 in Chips.
This will be an interesting day. I really hope Raymer, and Ivey both survive.

I think Raymer has a ncie advantage though. The table that he is playing at today is not a lot of high stacked players. He is right in the mix at his table and I think he is good enough to move on. Ivey is top ten now, I think and he is in great shape.

Wow, check this out:
Mike Matusow bluffs himself to the lead
On a board of [J♦][10♠][2♠][5♠][5♥] Mike Matusow pushed all in with 1.5 million already in the pot. Farzad Bonyadi folded his cards saying that he was holding a flush. He told Matusow to show him the bluff and Matusow showed [2♣][6♣] for bottom pair. Matusow took the huge pot breaking 4 million in chips.

This is getting really good. Raymer doubled through Tiffany, then Tiffany doubled up moment later. The chips are changing hands quickly.

Raymer comes back into the top 10 in chips again, along with Matusow, Ivey, and Minh Ly. Juanda is trying to hang in, but he needs to double his chips soon. Down to 32 players, and shaping up to be a fantastic finish.
EDIT: Juanda is out.

Mannnn this is gonna be fun to watch later this year.
I wish ESPN would make a WSOP DVD. I would so buy it. I can't think of anything better to watch while playing an online tournament. Would keep you focused.
I am rooting for Raymer over even Ivey. I would just love to see the guy repeat.

There should be a DVD about this, I agree and I would buy it as well. I am also rooting for Raymer and I think it would be just a tremendous feat if he does. I hope Ivey makes final table as well.

Half a million is about right for Raymer. Ivey hasn't had much luck today and is sitting at close to 3M in chips for 10th place.
EDIT: Raymer's earning: $304,680.
