It appears the Spurs fans have left the building leading up to this game 7. Have they lost confidence in their team? Has winning just 1 game on a last second 3 point shot in the last 4 games given them reason to panic? Has Duncan's 4th quarter meltdowns exposed his lack of fortitude?

My only concern for the Pistons is that they win the games you expect them to lose, and lose the games you expect them to win. A lot of analysts are jumping on the Pistons bandwagon because of their experience and poise (and Spurs lack of), and are predicting a Pistons win. It feels like an opportune time for them to blow it.

But, I'm sticking with my original pick... the Pistons will clobber the Spurs tonight and win in double digits. I'd be interested in hearing from the Spurs fans before the game to see if their still as confident. It's easy to do after the game, but let's hear your opinion and guesses for this game 7 before it happens!

I think the Spurs are too good of a team to just drop down and get blown out on their own court in Game 7 of the finals. It wouldn't surprise me though if the Pistons do win this game. However, I still like the Spurs to win since I predicted them to win in seven. I still think that's going to happen, even though I do like the Pistons chances.

Unless I am mistaken... I believe you are the only one who still has a shot at predicting the series correctly. Everybody else predicted their team to win in 6 or less, and you always stuck to the 7 games... so, kudos to you!

As for the game, I just have a gut feeling that the Spurs will fold tonight as they have not looked good under pressure yet, whereas the Pistons have looked spectacular in every pressure game they've faced for 2 straight years (10-0 in elimination games). But, obviously nothing is impossible and I think too much is made of "momentum" and "poise" at times, when in reality the game could simply hinge on a few lucky shots or couple bad calls.

But, whatever happens I think a lot of both teams and I think fans of both can be proud of each whether they win or lose.

My pick: Spurs in 5 or 6. Winning two on the road won't be easy.

Oh, and they (Pistons) are overrated.

Seriously I would rank the Spurs, Heat, Suns, and Mavs ahead of them. The way the Nuggets wer playing most of the year, it's likely they could stand up to the Pistons as well. I'm not sure about the Sonics or Rockets. They might stand a chance against the Pistons.

Just wanted to call this back up. I am sure everybody on the Spurs team would agree with DP07's excellent basketball analysis.

Spurs in seven, like I said............:2up:

But my god, the NBA wonders why the ratings are down in the series? 81-74? Gee I wonder why the ratings are down? Another reason is the games are being aired at 9pm on the East Coast, but that is another complaint for another thread.

Even though the game was somewhat tense, that had to be one of the most uneventful Game 7's I have ever seen, and I haven't seen too many of them in my lifetime. I guess I was spoiled (Even though I wasn't alive) watching the NBA Finals games in the 80's on ESPN Classic and on DVD (Actually, playoff games in general) where the score was 115-114, or something like that, and there was edge of the seat excitement. Here, it's exciting because the game is so close, but nothing happens.

Actually while watching the game, I noticed that both teams made a lot of mistakes offensively. It was becoming kind of hideous to watch. The team that would eventually go on to win tonight would be the luckiest, and tonight that was the Spurs. Neither team played a great game.

You could say that for like 3 other guys on the team... Duncan didn't play good. He does not deserve to be MVP

I'm definitely sad the Pistons didn't pull it off - when they were up by 9 in the 3rd, I thought they had it - but, I think that San Antonio is the classiest team in the league, and if they had to lose their title, I'm glad it's to them.

Duncan displayed flashes of brilliance - in particular the second half of last nights game, when the Spurs needed it most. He had 17 points and hit all his free throws. Despite his suspect play in the other games, I think he deserved the MVP award.

The Pistons were one last second Horry 3 pointer away from winning the whole thing, so I am happy with their performance. They proved they were not flukes - which a lot of people tried to peg them as.

I thought the officiating was horrible last night, on both sides. Ginobili and Billups were sitting on the bench in the first quarter due to foul trouble, and Rasheed Wallace sat out almost the entire 2nd and 3rd quarter with 4 fouls. For a while we were watching both teams benches vie for the title.. the Pistons had Elden Campbell, McDyess, and Hunter playing at one point. What kind of game 7 is that? It made it a disjointed low scoring affair that was generally boring until the 4th quarter. Horrible, horrible, officiating for a 7th game. But, it was terrible on both sides equally and I don't think it effected the outcome - just the enjoyment from a fans perspective.

I really was 95% certain the Pistons would pull it out (they usually always do). But, unquestionably the Spurs are the best team they have faced in the last two years. The Spurs are one of my favorite teams, so I'm not that heart broken. I would have been rooting for the Spurs if anybody else had been in the finals besides the Pistons.

I really expect we could see the same finals next year... barring any injuries, both teams starters will be back next year, and both are relatively young. Miami is the only one that can give Detroit problems in the East, and I frankly don't see anybody challenging the Spurs in the West (Phoenix is vastly overrated).
