BKB...TLY is going to finish third on Saturday. SITH and Madagascar are much more family orientated film. Sith should rise byu about 40% and Madagascar by about 30...whil Yard will probably go up about 5-10%. TLY will not win the weekend.

Wouldn't it be a shock though if Longest Yard beat ROTS each day for the whole weekend?? Boy the shit would hit the fan then huh?? :-k Even though SITH would be at almost 300 Million, it would quickly be overshadowed by an Adam Sandler movie beating out a SW film.. Of course, according to BOX OFFICE GURU, they think it might happen not because of SITH's quality, but because it is a much darker film and not family friendly for a weekend like Memorial Day Weekend.. I suppose anything is possible, but I'd hate to see SITH catch heat for something as trivial as this and you know it would..

Who knows?

I know that SW has more theaters

but who has more screens?

I know at my theater - SW is on 2 big ones while TLY is on 3 big ones.

I thought it was too early. Anyway, I certainly expect TLY to be in third place. I think it will probably increase more then 10%, but with a family film and a holdover it won't compare.

UPDATE: Just thought I'd pass along this interesting piece of box office info I heard on my way home moments ago while purchasing beer.. The movie critic for KMOX 1120 AM was saying that Longest Yard beat SW3 for Saturdays numbers as well and predict SW3 to come in at a surprising #3 for the weekend and that SW3 drop was much larger than Friday.. Perhaps ROTS really is super frontloaded in that everyone rushed out in the first few days to see this and now are content with simply waiting for the DVD in seeing it again and opted for a different change of pace, something a little more family oriented and lighthearted.. Hmmm.. I will mull this over while drinking an ice cold Budweiser..

It could happen. I hope not though, for the sake of the $470 million club. Honestly though it wouldn't be as surprising as some people say considering the film has shown some signs of frontloadedness already.

But WOW!! To go from #1 to #3 in it's 2nd weekend?? Christ, I could understand that if the movie sucked, but ROTS was Excellent..

Wouldn't be that uncommon. Some movies go even further down in their second weekend. Honestly though I excpect RoTS to be in a close race with Madagascar for first with The Longest Yard pulling third place.

What the hell would a movie critic from a radio station know though BKB. Don't start getting us into hysteria here. You know Sith is going to finish at least number two for the weekend.

BKB, interesting strategy you're implementing. If somehow Sith does slip in rank this weekend, you would have already beaten everyone to the punch. Backing TLY puts you in a nice comfortable position.

That is unless TLY falters. Then you'll just look crazy.

More importantly, why are you drinking beer so early in the morning?

Lock this thread and let's have an intervention.
