7/8 showings for midnight are sold out currently at AMC in OKCOK.

I'll be seeing it that day and thursday night. I love these occassions when a big blockbuster to be starts selling out early show after show.

I kind of agree - I guess its most resembling Matrix Reloaded at this stage. Also has strong 2nd weekend competition. Though the legs should be sturdier than Reloaded in that a.) it will be a more crowd pleasing film, b.) It offers closure to the series and c.) its the final in the series - hence a bigger opening than Reloaded and better legs. Still I wouldnt be shocked with amajor second weekend drop that soon levels off.

well at Cinemark 24 in Valley View the 12:25 has now sold out and they added a 12:30 show. That's 7 freakin midnight shows, with 6 sold out. They also have it showing on 7 screens the next day, a new record. Episode 3 is taking up almost 1/3 of the theatre,

What competition is it going to have second weekend?

Madagascar and The Longest Yard. I don't think either will hurt it that much but they will ensure a 40%+ drop atleast.

I don't think they are competition. They are movies that will gross some kind of respectable gross for sure, but htere is no way that they will severly dent SW chances at box office monstrosity.

What's funny about the running time is how short the film felt. It's always a good sign when you want to see more of a film.

My local theater sold out another one (that makes 2). It also added another showing so we are up to 4 at 12:01.

For reference ROTK sold out 1 and only had 2 showings.
