Nostalgia sells and so they are bringing back their biggest sell in a new suit. I would not blame them. Deadpool 3 has been nothing but nostalgia loaded to the brim. I expect Doomsday to be similar. Not just Downey but we will probably see Jackman and Mcguire etc to juice up the nostalgia to extreme.

This is not sustainable long term but for next 2 Avengers movies it should be good I think.

So will RDJ be more of a Thanos cameo in Fantastic Four but the main villain in Avengers?

Good bet we have two more 500-600 million films next year based on recent trends, but if F4 isn't the real RDJ movie it's not a guarantee to be one. Avatar 3 is NGMI.

Dont let DP v W fool you - this huge BO success may not translate to the MCU proper. Time will tell but it will be a bit of a rocky road over the next few phases. Some will be big, others far from it.

Brave New World and Thunderbolts are unlikely to pass Deadpool's opening in total. Blade will probably be delayed again. I think Fantastic Four will open to $150M+ and have peoples hyped going into Doomsday nearly a year later (unless Blade opens .)

I really think Captain America will do fine with the World War Hulk storyline going to be heavily featured in the marketing.

Though I think Thunderbolts still could flop.

I don't see any of these films really mattering box office wise, just needs the quality. If they are good then they can call this the Rocky II of the MCU

Equity value of MCU is no where near the time infinity saga released. Back then hype was so high that Captain Marvel opened to 150m+ and did over 1B in business. Sequel lost over 85% of gross and probably 90% of audience.

Only movies which have exploded like crazy are movies that used Nostalgia and dialed it to max. No way home and Deadpool did that. I am not sure how that will help Doomsday. RDJ himself will help big but negative perception of MCU off late is not going to help.

I initially thought after buzz around RDJ as doom casting that this can do 300m OW. Now I dont see it go that high with where things are and I dont see thunderbomb changing anything as well.

Its not just domestic. China is ignoring MCU stuff as well. Even Deadpool did nothing and even a breakout like Guardians 3 did only 80m(lower in current XR).

Even though Captain America Mackie still did ok and better than I expected, I don't think this is relatively going to do as well. Could still see it do something like 135/300 and really I don't think there will be any bigger audience for it all.

thinking a little lower after the initial hype of RDJ wore off. Maybe 240-255m OW. It’s still
an avengers movie, and the drawn out and boring casting announcement got an absurd amount of views. I just can’t see this managing to do less on opening weekend than Deadpool 3. Maybe it does closer to 220 if there’s no Tom Holland, he wasn’t announced but that’s probably just a Sony thing
