 January 17-20 Predictions
Wolf Man 35/43 One of them Days 10/13

Julia Garner being the mom instead of older sister is weird.

Sing Sing finally goes wide this weekend. Hopefully it can catch on this time, as it seems to be a huge crowd-pleaser that could really take off under the right circumstances.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
Variety sees Wolf Man at 17-21 Million over the 4-Day holiday. That seems low to me. I hope it does better than that. They need to hurry up and release the reviews.
They have One of Them Days at 8-13 Million over the 4-Day.
September 5 expands to 120 theaters.

Sing sing is not playing near me which is strange because we have The Brutalist which is not yet wide

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
Wolf Man presales are anemic. its gonna under perform this week. One of them days is not doing much but that being driven to black audience, I think will be driven by walkups.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
My theater gets Sing Sing and Anora for the first time, and we get The Room Next Door, Wish You Were Here, Autumn and the Black Jaguar, and of course, the two new wide openers. We also get The Substance back, which I'm really excited to see on the big screen again where it deserves to be seen, and we get Conclave and The Wild Robot back.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
Maybe Companion can be the January horror standout if Wolf Man isn’t it.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
It would have to be leggy, because I don't see a great opening for it. They're only spending 10 Million to market it. The average marketing budget for wide release films is 30 Million on the low end. I hope it does well as it's supposed to be great, but buzz seems muted for the time being.

September 5 expands to 120 theaters. I'd be happy with One of Them Days doing that for my derby considering its a Round 15 pick. That would be low for Wolf Man. I was expecting a $30m+ breakout.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
One of Them Days has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 13 reviews. I've read quite a few reactions from advanced screenings saying it's hilarious. With strong WOM, it could be decently leggy. The competition is pretty weak until "Captain America" comes out. I bet it gets an A/A- CinemaScore.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
The Wolf Man reviews I've skimmed aren't very encouraging, which is a shame. This excerpt from one of the positive ones, in particular, doesn't inspire confidence. "With Wolf Man, the werewolf lore you thought you knew is remixed and transformed in a harrowing horror picture about facing the generational trauma of modern toxic masculinity."Lame! Hopefully it's not just another limp tale about how men are evil (and/or incompetent), which is just so fresh and such an original vision to find in a horror film these days.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
One of Them Days is still 100% with 25 reviews. This is wild. I'm glad it's supposed to be good as I thought it looked really fun and had planned on seeing it.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
The unfortunate aspect of many award-season movies expanding this weekend is that, with the Oscar nomination date pushed to Thursday, they won't even benefit from the nominations. Many theaters will likely remove these films by next weekend. If they're smart, they'll keep them for a showtime or two, as the Oscar nominations should provide a boost. Unfortunately, I doubt many theaters will consider this. I can't see mine being smart enough to. They always make really dumb decisions.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
I wanted to go see One of Them Days or Brutalist but its so damn cold out. Will be hovering in the 20s for this weekend ... then on Monday/Tuesday theres a high of like 8 lol. Combine that with the fires closing many California theaters and numbers will likely be pretty low this weekend for all films.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
I haven't seen many movies lately for the same reason. We have 4 degrees on Saturday, -5 on Sunday, and -10 on Monday. I hate to leave the house.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
Wolf Man did 1.4 Million in previews, and One of Them Days did 1.3 Million. That's pretty bad for Wolf Man, but good for One of Them Days. Maybe that could be #1 this weekend. At the very least, it might beat Wolf Man.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
Is that One of Them Days number pure Thursday or did it have sneaks?
Might be front loaded but seems really good.

 Re: January 17-20 Predictions
I didn't hear anything about any paid sneak previews, so it should just be Thursday. It was performing surprisingly well at many theaters I checked last night. It was doing better than Wolf Man at a lot of them, although Wolf Man did benefit from premium screens.
