This series feels Transformers adjace at this point and that made 61 last year. So it's plausible, but I'll say under.

I saw the thread title and thought "that's kinda low for a Rev club." Then every in here thinks that you're too high lol.
Godzilla v Kong was such a huge part in people feeling that things were getting back to normal after the quarantine year. The release date is not ideal though. It should be a summer movie.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
Godzilla Minus One has primed the audience here and I'm more excited about this than I would have been otherwise.
Week 2 of Ghostbusters. Week 4 of Kung Fu Panda. Week 5 of Dune 2. Why do studios leave an empty Jan/Feb and then pack March?!
The last Godzilla movie would adjust to about $35M opening in the middle of the pandemic. It was the first movie of the pandemic to do a $20M+ OW and only the second I believe to pull off $15M+. So I think it very well would have done $50M+ in regular times.
If the reviews are there, I think $64M can be done but it may just squeak by. I also think Ghostbusters could underwhelm, which will lead to a better opening for Godzilla/Kong.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
I wouldn't be shocked if this overperforms now. With Dune looking more like a slower gradual run and what I expect a bit of an underwhelm from Ghostbusters, feels like Godzilla / Kong is going to benefit. Having Easter is also going to supercharge it's Friday and Sunday.
The last film pulled $31.6M in March 2021 at still a rough time ($48M 5day) as well as on HBO Max at the same time. Dune 1 opened in Oct. 2021 in a similar situation but with many more movies opening by then. Godzilla Minus One also likely primed the audience for more Godzilla content. I expect a lot of Godzilla Minus One mentions over the Oscar since the film was so well liked an possibly a win.

I'm predicting 58 Million. It's certainly possible that it could go a bit higher.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
Empire is predicting this could do $75M+ though new tracking is expected in 48 hours.
He also sees Ghostbusters at $35-40M.
Godzilla Minus One's win even if completely unrelated to this movie still keeps Godzilla in the consciousness. They should have done a double feature of the two films.

Just like Dune, the last film did very well considering the BO climate at the time. It should see a substantial uptick.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
Good job! Saw this earlier today: Godzilla’s screen time in the MonsterVerse
Godzilla (2014) = 10 minutes King of the Monsters = 11 Minutes Godzilla vs Kong = 11 Minutes Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire = 8 Minutes So that means Godzilla delivered $10M for every minute of screentime in the new film. Though at least 4 of those minutes are probably scenes of Godzilla at charging stations. So guess Godzilla is now sponsored by Tesla?

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
I only saw the first one but it was a cool 10 minutes after all that buildup. Not a bad formula considering the money saved on CGI.

Re: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire $64m OW Club
GvsK dropped just 9.7% on Friday in China. Its a holiday but up to $83M total now so looking like a sizable gross.
