 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
Going through the 12 Mondays ahead of it, most of them are in December when people had holidays and the ones that weren't were holidays at other times of the year.
It looks like Barbie is #2 biggest Monday of all time removing holiday Mondays and 2nd half of Dec. Mondays.
Only Avengers: Endgame is ahead of it at $36,874,439. That had an OW $195M higher than Barbie (120% higher). Though Barbie benefits from summer weekdays this is a colossal Monday and sets Barbie on a path to annual year dominance.
Holiday Mondays (Non-Dec): 1 Black Panther $40,151,729 Feb 19, 2018 5 Top Gun: Maverick $33,807,521 May 30, 2022 10 Spider-Man 2 $27,661,137 Jul 5, 2004 12 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull $26,779,538 May 26, 2008
Holidays December 2 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens $40,109,742 Dec 21, 2015 3 Spider-Man: No Way Home $37,138,318 Dec 20, 2021 6 Avatar: The Way of Water $32,270,430 Dec 26, 2022 7 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story $32,085,637 Dec 26, 2016 8 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens $31,362,029 Dec 28, 2015 9 Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker $29,389,847 Dec 23, 2019 11 Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi $27,459,557 Dec 25, 2017
Non-holiday and non-Dec Mondays 4 Avengers: Endgame $36,874,439 Apr 29, 2019 13 Barbie $26.1M Jul 24, 2023
On another note, I read that the weekend box office was only about 7.7% in Canada for Barbenheimer, still a record. However, discount Tuesdays are big which hopefully help give Barbie and Oppenheimer some nice holds.

Only three other movies have had non-holiday $20M+ Mondays in the summer: [ETA:]Jurassic World - $25,344,820 The Dark Knight - $24,493,313 Incredibles 2 - $23,627,708 The Lion King - $21,050,219 Pretty incredible. Will be fun to see what happens today since it's already performing at almost full capacity so the Discount Tuesday might actually cause a slight dip due to the average ticket price dropping so much, lol.

 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
Other Monday dailies:
1. Barbie $26,105,167 $188,127,211 2. Oppenheimer $12,671,950 $95,127,370 3. Sound of Freedom $3,168,715 -36% $127,602,227 4. M:I 7 $2,374,770 -55.3% $120,982,750 5. Insidious 5 $1,003,467 -41.5% $72,140,350 6. IJ5 $961,273 -37% $159,958,636 7. Elemental $949,136 -24% $138,106,455 8. Spider-verse $505,000 -42% $375,782,893 9. No Hard Feelings $132,000 -69% $49,352,711 10. The Little Mermaid $126,993 -64% $296,234,600
Bad for MI. Not certain it's passing $160M if it doesn't recover this weekend.

This was such a memorable weekend (and 1st week).
So cool (and funny).

 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
I hadn't noticed how badly No Hard Feelings was hit by Barbie until now. It's crazy to think JLaw was so much bigger of a star and draw in the early/mid 2010s vs Margot who was only getting started (and they are both the same age--officially), and now Margot is the biggest actress in Hollywood while JLaw is bombing and making everyone question why she is still getting paid $25M a movie.
I knew Margot was a star the second she appeared on Wolf of Wall Street in that blue dress though. Sometimes the most amazing visual effect in a movie is real.

 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
JLaw was never, ever a big draw on her own. This was proven on numerous occasions. She is a fine actress and probably someone who, in the right role, could really help a concept. But $25m per film is hilarious. I do not think she was ever more popular with audiences than Emma Stone and absolutely not Margot Robbie.
She was forced on the film industry similar to Josh Hartnett in the early 2000s or Chalamet over the last few years.

Mario earned 370 post 5 day open. Barbie was 40 million behind after its 4 day. So essentially needs to out earn Mario by 65 million to hit 600. 500 is a lock.

 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
As Barbie would already be at $213M after 5 days, here's a tidbit. If Barbie passes $500M (highly likely), it would become the 20th movie (unadjusted) to do so making $504M+ the min threshold for future movies to break the top 20.
WB has only had 1 $500M+ movie, TDK with $534,987,076. That was #2 of all time at the time of its release.

As I have been following the box office and posting with you all since Revenge of the Sith back in 2005, this factoid right here blows my mind. I recall when The Dark Knight came our way back in 2008, how insane it’s gross over 500m had been. It felt like movies like Titanic and Star Wars were forever to be the kings of the box office. Of course the months and years flowed much slower back then. The late 2010s really spoiled us. It seemed like every movie Disney farted out made a billion dollars. That mark is and always should have been a special number. That era made it standard. “One billion is good, but how about two billion?” The changing times makes movies like Mario Bros and Barbie all the more special and point towards a new era of movies, their expectations, and their audiences.

Yeah I was kinda expecting something like this; I went to Oppenheimer a second time last night and the theater parking lot was just as packed as it was on Thursday and Friday, but tickets are slashed to $5.50 for regular shows and $9 for IMAX. I think the Wednesday holds will be a little more telling on where the two are headed. Even then though, a $25.4M Tuesday would be the 11th biggest Tuesday of all time, behind three opening days (Far from Home, Amazing Spider-Man 1, Transformers 1) and four December holiday Tuesdays, so among comparable Tuesday it's behind just Endgame, Lion King '19, and Incredibles 2.

 Re: Barbenheimer weekdays
Expected even lower tbh so this hold is really strong, considering the capacity these two films are playing at increasing on tue would've been too big an ask. I do agree it will make the wed hold really good as a result most likely.
