I'm out. Thinking on high end it misses $220m.

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW CLUB!!!!
Tickets on sale today. Looks better than the second but still not excited. First trailer was cool with returning cast but has buzz really built? Does the returning cast being in the same movie together really matter when Neill and Dern were in JP3 and Goldblum was in TLW and JW:FK?
Not sold on this club anymore. The second film only debuted to 148m. Don't see more than 175m for this.

Similarly, I have no sense of buzz for this right now. I’m laughing at my extremely excited / optimistic predictions from a few months ago. who knows

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW CLUB!!!!
I mean, the fans of this franchise have always been a bit of a silent majority. But it's really just dependent on "do fans care the OG cast is all in the same movie" and "is having the same action setpieces in a new location this time that exciting". Yeah the dinosaurs are all over the world, but is that that strong of a hook compared to previous installments?

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW CLUB!!!!
Given how Jurassic World taking the record felt pretty random I feel this should still open big even if buzz is light. I think it's a franchise with not as much passionate fans but easy for casual moviegoer to go to.

I think 2022 will come down to this vs Black Panther. Dr. Strange will be huge but JW closing the 6 film series and original cast will have a lot of hype. Definitely in!

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW CLUB!!!!
I think it will open around 190-200m which would be great.
Saw the latest trailer and have to say - it still doesn’t look anywhere near as good as JP93 in terms of visual effects and the look of the film.

Out. The last movie was BAD bad. The original cast coming back is nice but I don't think it's THAT big of a draw.

PS so far feels like movie would open around last movie than the one before that. Still this has a long presales cycle and so we have time. I am hoping hype hits a crescendo close to release.

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW CLUB! **closes on 5/1
Initial gut feel is Jurassic Park's buzz may get dented a bit by TG's massive overperformance. 2 week window may not be enough space. Will still do huge business of course but feel there's got to be some type of impact. I wouldn't be shocked by slightly smaller opening but better legs (since really not many tentpoles out this summer).

Rev, I am sorry buddy but I am opting out. I think this will underwhelm. Thinking 140/350 kind of run at this point.

The review embargo drops day before release. It's probably a stinker like Dominion, III and Lost World. Feeling it won't do much more than Dominion.

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW Club! *CLOSED*
I would be surprised if this even reaches the original club milestone. I do not see the required buzz for this beyond what you'd expect from a regular summer blockbuster, and to reach the heights of $200m+ I think we should be able to sense some kind of x-factor, and I just cannot right now. Some of the reasons I've read in this thread are baffling. I'm not feeling them in the slightest. Feathered dinosaurs will add nothing. It's not like nobody's ever seen a winged dinosaur before. There are countless documentary series on dinosaurs, and they've explored the flying ones, besides franchises like Godzilla and King Kong have given people enough flying monsters to render anything the Jurassic World franchise delivers as not enough to move the needle in terms of adding to its gross. The next reason is the finale factor. Is it even the final movie? I've not heard that, and I haven't noticed anything in its marketing to suggest it is. But even if it is, is that such a big draw? It's not like they'll never make another Jurassic Park/World movie again, and nobody is engrossed in this three-part story. I bet nobody even cares that each movie is part of a timeline. To most people, I'd say each flick is just another dinosaur adventure, a bit of escapism for two hours. I don't believe people care about the lore, the characters, how it will end, etc. Everyone will live, we all know that anyway. The final reason I've seen is that Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill are back. Haven't they been back before? I know Neill and Goldblum have. It's not fresh anymore. Their inclusion feels respectful only. I don't believe this will be a factor in adding to its gross.
The thing to its advantage is that its a four-quadrant blockbuster with a great summer date, but I would also argue that Fallen Kingdom hurt the franchise and even that missed $150 million. CGI dinosaurs just feel old hat now. I want to know what will be the must-see factor that will suddenly turn around this franchise's fortunes and add another $77 million to its opening. I could see $160 million opening just by virtue of it being a large blockbuster opening in the summer, but where's the magic sauce? Why is this a perfect storm that will produce the fifth largest opening of all-time?

Re: Jurassic World Dominion *$225m* OW Club! *CLOSED*
its tanking hard in korea where it opened this week. Wont even finish with what FK made in 5 days. As I said there is no snowball of a chance of this happening at this point. I am thinking 17m previews/140m OW / 350m Domestic/825M WW. China PS has started and it will obviously drop very hard as Beijing/Shanghai are far from normal despite good news that hard lockdowns are no longer there.
