Re: Thursday Previews
Looking like 9m friday(minus previews). That wont be enough for 30m OW but let us hope walkups improve. I guess family movies are screwed while Delta is a major issue. They would rather watch it on D+ or wait for it to be freely available.

Re: Thursday Previews
That would be a terrible multiple. Really ought to do minimum 30m with those previews. If it followed Cruella it would do 42m.
Delta I think affects kids films less since many of the pandemics biggest hits pre vaccine was kids films like Raya, T&J and Croods.

Re: Thursday Previews
Families have less incentive to go a theater in these conditions when virus is spreading. better off seeing it in a nice big screen TV(OLED's are great for movies).

Re: Thursday Previews
So do non families lol. I see no evidence that family movies automatically do worse in this market.

Re: Thursday Previews
No family movie has made over 60 million yet in theaters (Cruella is a PG-13 film categorized as a crime comedy.) That's pretty firm evidence right there. People might be bold enough to see movies on their own or with friends, date etc. They all have choices, kids are at the mercy of their parent's decision, and most won't make it. I mean that's just common knowledge. I wouldn't take my niece or nephew to the movies yet, there are plenty of other options for them (Also kids forget movies almost immediately after they see them.) I've been to the theaters again though, but if I didn't like the size of the crowd or anything, I'd probably pass myself.

Re: Thursday Previews
Deadline saying 10-12m Friday for Jungle Cruise, and a 25-27m weekend.

Re: Thursday Previews
Good preview number for JC. Family movies haven't done as well after the theaters opened with lesser restrictions. The times when Croods and T&J opened there were lesser screens and they legged out in their totals. Will be interesting to see whether Jungle Cruise opens and ends.

Re: Thursday Previews
Deadline upped JC friday to 12-13m. I am seeing 9.5m true friday which would be about 12.2m, so Deadline should be accurate here. I think Rock/Blunt are definitely helping with walkups. I think 30m OW is back on table.

Re: Thursday Previews
$30m would be good for it. I'm sure in regular times this would have done double that number.

Re: Thursday Previews
$30m at this time sounds really solid to me. In regular times I don't think this would do more than $45m opening weekend.

Since theaters have been largely open to full capacity, only Boss Baby 2 was released, which was available on Peacock and followed a terrible original film. If Luca had been released to theaters exclusively, it probably would have done 35m+ OW and 100m+
