Superbowl spots thread
So far I’ve only seen Raya.
Must be a tough decision for studios. On one hand, since nobody is watching trailers in theaters it would make sense to put a huge chunk of your ad budget into this. On the other hand, you might end up delaying the movie even more and that release date you paid $5M to show is useless.

Any film coming out on a streaming service in the next few months should benefit.
Also saw Raya. I've been seeing a lot of Raya actually, across various networks.
Just saw a spot for a "Old" from M. Night Shyamalan. Advertised as only in theaters this summer. We'll see.
Did you mean to post this is BO Bash, by the way?

Re: Superbowl spots thread
I wonder how much Disney will have spent tonight on Disney+ spots.
Falcon and Winter Soldier did look good.

Re: Superbowl spots thread
Paramount+. March 4th. I'm assuming this was already known given how close the launch date is?

Re: Superbowl spots thread
I think Paramount+ is just CBS All Access rebranded but I could be wrong. They are launching with Spongebob 3 so that will net them some free trials at least.

Raya and Old was it...
Surprised WB didn't do anything.

Yep this was a waste of a thread lol. I figured we would get GvK, Mortal Kombat and maybe even Suicide Squad.

WB doesn't do Super Bowl spots no?

Not movie trailer related, but the Four Seasons Total Landscaping spot was the best of the night.

Re: Superbowl spots thread
I'd like to see M. Night Shyamalan do a bigger budget film. His last several movies feel so closed in and look like they were done on shoestring budgets (even though I enjoyed them).

Re: Superbowl spots thread
I don't think his films really go well with the studio model. Let's not forget After Earth and Last Airbender both were 130+ budgets and Lady in the Water was 70+.
I am pretty amazed that Glass only cost 20 million, and unbreakable was 75 million back in 2000. His movies don't really need more than 55 million to be grander in scope. I don't even think Signs would have needed 60 million today. Most of that went to Gibson.

Re: Superbowl spots thread
So what movies (and TV shows) should or are receiving SB spots this year?
I know LOTR: TROP will finally unleash the first trailer as an SB spot. Good move.
I suspect Lightyear, Top Gun and Sonic will get spots.
Any chance of seeing something for Bullet Train? Black Adam? Thor 4?

Nope is a good candidate.
A glimpse of Avatar would be epic. Though I recall we only received our first look at Avatar 1 in August 2009?

Re: Superbowl spots thread
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power already has bad buzz with the Dollar Tree version of Cate Blanchett they had narrate the announcement teaser. The footage will need to be VERY impressive to not cause a "this looks like crap compared to the Jackson films" reaction.

Yes it will have to be spectacular. I don't have that much faith in it either.

I guess that's just Amazon having endless cash to burn and they want their big flagship series to have the same quality as a big budget movie. The fact that Amazon has a movie studio itself is fucked up. These mega corporations need to be broken up.
