Eduard: What do you think on Matt Jones drafted so early?
SportsNation Gary Horton: (4:19 PM ET ) This is a high-risk, high-reward type of pick. Jones has great athleticism and potential, but taking a guy this early that is a real projection, is taking a big chance. If he works hard and really applies himself, he could be a great developmental player and a nightmare matchup. He will have a tremendous young QB in Byron Leftwich to get him the ball. Physically there are no weaknesses. The key will be how quickly he can get natural at the position.

In the end, I don't think this was a good pick for Jacksonville. Matt Jones was the kind of guy that upper-echelon teams could take a chance on because they don't have any big needs. But the Jaguars do have some needs. It's a gutsy pick that could have a huge pay off, but I don't think it was the right pick for Jacksonville.
And now we wait and see where Rodgers goes. Any of the next six teams could scoop him up.

Clayton goes to Baltimore. Good pick. The Ravens need a big time receiver, and he might do the job.

It might be possible to have him pick up some CB duties on certian recievers. However I'll bet the Jags trade him before the end of the draft.

It must be Rodgers. Green Bay and Washington were having an eye on him and after them they would have had their pick anyway

Well, it's the guy from Nebraska for the Raiders. Rodgers will now go to either GB or Washington, for sure.

and i think, although he loses a lot of money with dropping that much, this would be a great home for rodgers. Playing behind Brett Favre. You can't get a much better training ground

Huh? Packers just traded down with the seahawks, I think it's a done deal now that they get Rodgers. and won't have to pay him as much.

As a Packer fan the reason they make this pick is:
(1) Best player available in the draft
(2) No real great defensive "1st round" players left
(3) Don't know when Favre will retire, could be this year, could be in 3 more years
(4) Two second round picks
I just hope the Tedford curse doesn't strike again.

JC in DC interesting pick I would have never thought he would have been the 3rd QB selected.

Nevertheless, there's a reason he dropped to 24. I won't bet all my money right now that you found your new franchise QB with him..

Maybe Auburn did have a case for the National Championship this year. 4 players drafted in the first round 2 in the top 5 and 3 in the top ten!
Ronnie Brown RB- #2 Pick
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams RB- #5 Pick
Carlos Rodgers CB- #9 Pick
Jason Campbell QB- #25 pick

Another strange pick. Chris Spencer to Seattle. I heard the Giants were interested with pick #43, now Seattle takes him in the first round. There must have been better players.
