Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
That would be an awful multiplier for TROS but it has been behind in multipliers with comparable movies. I was thinking with $3.9m it will cross $15.5m for the weekend.
1917 ended up close to our predictions rather than a massive breakout

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
Star Wars is gonna limp to 500m.
Jumanji probably isn't gonna top 300m. So less than 800m total for Jumanji and SW while the 2017 entries combined for a billion.

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
Like a Boss should have done a bit better.
Nice and as expected for 1917. String launching pad considering it could make 30m plus over the 4-day weekend. Though also surprised by the preview to weekend ratio considering Revenant example.

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
It’s been 4 years since Revenant. I’m pretty sure preview share has increased since then. Seems to me that previews are higher than comps from a few years ago most of the time.

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
Ok interesting. I’ve never paid all that much attention to previews but I guess they act more as an opening night these days. Films have opened on Thursday here in Oz for years so I wouldn’t be surprised if North America heads the same way eventually.

Disney should be embarrassed by TrOs performance.

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
1917 is doing so well, they got the timing exactly right avoiding the Christmas releases, then the Globes wins, and Oscar noms tomorrow where it will most likely get BP/BD.

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
Drops were harsh following the holiday effect last week.
As to be expected TROS continues to trail comparisons.
Parasite expanded, but pta dropped. But it will beat Bombshell and Cats. Who would have predicted that?

Re: Friday/Weekend estimates
Interestingly - 1917 opened to about the same amount (unadjusted) that the Star Wars Ep IV re-issue smashed the January OW record with back in 1997.
Both amazing results.

I think the GG win had to have made some people rush out on Thursday.
