Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
Initially, you just want to throw your arms in the air and say "fuck this shit!", but actually I think it might be some great casting. Wayne should be a privileged public school boy type that is also vulnerable. I just hope it's not another Batman origin story.

I don't see it making anymore than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to be honest.

Feel like the sequel where he faces Phoenix's Joker will be TDK 2.0 Algren wrote: I don't see it making anymore than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to be honest. Batman was clearly the biggest solo character in pop culture before 2017. Done right, this will likely be big. Get another name as Riddler & $$$$$

Not liking that this isn't official and Hoult and Aaron Taylor Johnson in the mix. Pattinson is a great choice, lock him.

Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
Pattison is definitely an inspired and interesting choice to play Bruce Wayne/The Batman. After The Rover, The Lost City of Z and Good Time I am more than sold on him having the acting chops to pull this off, but I don't think his name will mean jack shit as far as BO goes. His Twilight fame feels like it was ages ago and he has done nothing, but mostly under the radar indies since. However successful this film is will depend solely on the marketing and the quality just like it was before when Begins was coming out, but $1.5B WW shouldn't be that hard for a good Batman movie these days.

Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
Batman is still the biggest individual hero/character. The Batman brand overall is not far behind the Star Wars or Avengers of the world in terms of potential; the Joker trailer is obviously huge and numerous other villains are big names.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES's buzz was so destroyed by the shooting that I feel its numbers w/ inflation and 3D are reasonable predictions ASSUMING quality and marketing are there.
TDKR w/ normal inflation is $518/1.35b; at in 10% 3d bump & $570/1.5b it is

Yeah, I don't get Excel bringing up Twilight as a reason for a Batman movie doing well. They're chalk and cheese. If Pattinson had a following, his movies since would've done much better than they did. Face it, he was ONLY loved in that role, for that role, because of that role in those few films.

Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
The big difference between BB and this movie is that:
1) Batman in BvS was almost universally loved regardless of the film itself, it didn't seem to damage Batman's reputation at all unlike Batman & Robin where Batman was a huge joke, the solo Batfleck movie got a lot of buzz 2) Nobody saw Justice League & it's failure is seen much more collective than simply on Batman; it obviously didn't hurt AQUMAN... 3) To state there obvious - The Dark Knight films are still very much engrained in pop culture...everybody over the age of 10 remember how awesome Batman can be.
The trailer just needs to make this look like a live-action version of the Arkham games & this will do insane business opening weekend if it is any good.

Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
There are too many live-action Batmen in existence for the world to care about this to the tune of $1.5 billion. This will be seen as just another retelling. I suspect The Joker will out-gross it. I also suspect that the plan is these two movies will eventually form a franchise.

Given that The leaked Joker plot ends with him vanishing without a trace following the death of Thomas Wayne at the hands of his society uproar, wouldn't be surprising if The Batman 2 focused on the return of the Joker. Hype would be mega huge

Re: Robert Pattinson Is The Batman = $1.5B WW Club
I think potential is huge if they can build anticipation with early trailer next comic con time frame. I wish they can pull it forward to next december. Would love to see batman movie in holidays.
That said with R.Pat busy with Nolan Sci-fi flic, this movie cannot start shooting until end of the year or early next and so there is no way it can release that early.

Justin Kroll is probably the most reliable "scooper" out there. And since he's reporting it's Pattinson, I'm willing to just go with that.

I'm interested. I was originally a "say what" reaction with Joaquin Phoenix until that trailer so let me see a trailer a year or so from now and I might be blown away.

Noooo Ben was perfect as Batman, he was so physical and imposing and brooding and sexy. He made Christian Bale look like a wimp. And I don't find Pattinson attractive at all. Hate this choice.

Ahh yes, ruin any goodwill you have for the film by hiring Mel fucking Gibson. That would go over REAL well!

Mel Gibson as The Riddler could be fun.
Perhaps #problematic and #cancelled actors can find a new niche as villains. It worked for Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts!
