Episode 2 is great too. This is the best TV since the first season of True Detective for me.

This show is...eh. The pilot has been the best episode of the three so far. It's a little too cheesy for me and lacks the "Parenthood" authenticity that made that show so effective.

It's definitely melodramatic, but it's been a long time I was invested in a show full of cheese like this. It's good. I don't think it will maintain its momentum for a long time. The shorter seasons will help though.

The show's greatest asset is Sterling K. Brown. He has such a strong presence. It's in the same wheelhouse as Darden on American Crime Story, but where he was more subdued there, he's more at the forefront here, at least of his scenes.

Yeah, Randall has been far and away the best character for me so far. And Jack.

Honestly, the thing dragging this down is the twins plotline. It's cheesy and none of the actors in it are very good.

Just watched the pilot... nothing amazing but good enough for me to stick with it for now.

It's nice to see Mandy and Milo getting work, though.

Mandy Moore and Sterling K. Brown are outacting everyone in this show. Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz are straight up terrible.

I'm distracted by the fact that Chrissy Metz and Chris Sullivan look so much like Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell. When I saw the previews all summer, I honestly thought it was a dramatic remake of Mike and Molly.

The end of this last episode :tears:

Everyone was at their best here though the Kate/Toby storyline is still by far the weakest storyline. I just can't see Toby lasting long on the show.

All this show makes me do is miss "Parenthood." I'll stick with it for Mandy and Sterling, but god that show was better.

I only just watched the 3rd episode now, have some catching up to do. I still love it, but the arc that Mandy Moore hid from Randall did feel a bit to unoriginal for me. I think Milo's acting is as well as anybody's too. There's so much more, 30 years of story to still uncover here, I can't wait to find out.

This is easily the best network drama in quite a few years. Every episode so far has been very good or great.

I caught up over the past few days. It's somewhat enjoyable but I still don't really get why it's this runaway ratings success. It's so safe and predictable and the dialogue is so saccharine. I also think Justin Hartley is absolutely awful (Chrissy Metz has improved somewhat, but her boyfriend is a bad actor and badly written).

It's amusing that out of all people he finds this show safe/predictable/saccharine/etc. considering nearly all shows he watches are way worse offenders than TIU is in any of the departments he's moaning about.

Got one episode left, just finished E9 and I wasn't too much a fan of the Rebecca knew William all along, but finally I found this the most touching episode yet. They do find a good way to round things off every time. Kate and Kevin have been a bit the weak links in the last 2 episodes.

I actually like Kevin, unlike most. But I'd have to agree that the Kate stuff is where the show slows down.

Belatedly watched the last episode just now. It's a very lovable show, it has a plenty of touching moments with a mostly endearing cast. I also don't think Kevin or Kate are bad, but I just don't feel they catch up with the rest. They're sometimes downright annoying, unlike everyone else's more relate-able characters. Sterling K. Brown is just amazing, just like he was in People vs. OJ. Even I loved watching every episode of This is Us, aside from the start, it does fall flat sometimes in later episodes. The show balances from good to great and I'll be looking forward, although not as eager as with some other shows, to next season too.

A-

Did you watch it to feed your Mandy Moore crush?
