Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Finally saw the movie this afternoon and I LOVED it. Goodman was GREAT, Winstead really carried this movie and does an equally good job as well. After one of the key member dies this takes a complete turn. I was fine with the ending per se because of the title but the way she kills the alien is stupid. Regardless of that its a FUN movie to watch.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
This is still the best, most entertaining movie of the year so far. I'm rewatching it now. It blows all the other blockbusters released so far this year out of the water.
Also, the score in this film is incredible.
It will never happen, but I hope Paramount at least mounts an end-of-year campaign to get Goodman awards consideration.

Such a nice film to come out this year. Greatly suspenseful. I wasn't so sure how it was gonna play out, but for me the alien reveal was totally a plus.

End of the summer almost and this is still the best movie of the year for me. I've watched it since it hit digital at least 5 times.

10 Cloverfield Lane
Really good film, albeit one that feels like an extended TV show. Nothing is technically creative. it is just traditional film-making, and it's very suspenseful. John Goodman is excellent. I would have liked some more answers by the end, but there is no denying that the mystery surrounding Howard, his past, the woman at the door, the story about a virus etc. etc. is what makes this such a thrill. I mean, the resourceful-yet-heavy-handed Howard is obviously crazy and probably killed his wife and daughter but he doesn't seem to be wrong about some sort of alien attack. Is this film running parallel to Cloverfield? That's the impression I got. Anyway, this is probably better than that! I never went crazy for Cloverfield like others did. I would have preferred if this film did not link to it at all. The last 10 minutes is definitely the worst part.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
People say they are only thematically connected but I definitely think it's running parallel to the first film.

It's kind of hinted at a few times in my opinion (this has been debated, but I like the idea too so I'm going with it). When she's listening to the radio before her car crashes they hint at a blackout happening in certain areas which could be right before the strike on Manhattan in the first movie. Then she's in the bunker for most of it and when she gets out the aliens are obviously out and wreaking havoc. There are rumors and speculation that next year's God Particle (with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Bruhl) is also going to be a Cloverfield film. It's also a Bad Robot low-budget J.J. Abrams production with an up-and-coming director, and very little is known about the production process thus far.

Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
Excellent sci fi thriller. I wasn't 100% sure whether this was going to connect to the first, so the question of whether Goodman was telling the truth or if he faked it all was still lingering enough to make it a back and forth with him.
