You guys think Robin is the Joker or nah. My friend brought it up because of the whole "no man stays good" line or whatever.

Jesus, so they were actually considering fucking Heisenberg for Lex Luthor and then went with Eisenberg?

I'm not gonna lie. The actual fight was cool and all, but we really needed better build-up/confrontations between Supes and Bats. I was surprised that all we got was the chase scene which was already in every trailer. I didn't really like how it was resolved either. Supes says MARTHA and all of the sudden he stops trying to kill him and they become friends ? That was pretty weak.

It's hard to imagine Cranston delivering some of these lines. Can you even picture Walter White saying "The red capes are coming... the red capes are coming!"

Lucky for Cranston, Snyder's an idiot.

To be fair, however, even fewer people knew that was Olson, than knew the red Master Chief was the Flash.

Him pointing out that was Olson reeks of "Here's another AWESOME easter egg fans!... Fans?"

I actually could. Not in the same tone as Eisenberg, but in that glowering almost guttural growl (alliteration!) that he went with sometimes with Walter White.

Actually, I could picture the same tone now that I think about. The difference though is that he wouldn't deliver it with the shake in his voice that Eisenberg has.

But again, it's good Cranston avoided this clusterfuck.

Cranston would have crushed it, but Eisenberg wasn't bad. Acting wise he's good, but kinda annoying aswell. He was pretty creepy towards the end, but people were laughing their asses off at his weird mumbling.

If I didn't know about the cameo before hand, I would have never guessed it myself.

It's such a dumb moment.

I think that's the only thing we disagree on about this movie. I liked that moment. Strange? Yes.

I feel that if certain scenes were rearranged or taken out completely and cut it down 30 minutes, we'd have a "fresh" movie to discuss.

I thought Eisenberg was excellent. I loved the red capes line since the trailer. I thought he was better the 2nd time around. He really played batman and was particularly vicious towards superman.

Wasn't there a shot of Batman looking at bat suits and one looked spray painted by, presumably The Joker?

I mean they could have used the first few minutes to just establish Batman rather than just saying things. A small montage should have worked instead but I am probably just getting ahead of myself. And as far as the Batman setup goes I really don't have problems with the first half. Its the end scenes the manipulation, the titular fight climax from Batman's perspective (specially since we haven't yet warmed up to Batman) those are my problems. Even though it wasn't cringe-worthy or laughable scene the fight end but it just didn't fit well in the movie.

I agree with TDS - the ultimate edition is probably significantly better.

My grade right now is a D. And you never know -- I'd give the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN theatrical cut a C and the Director's Cut an A-.

Post Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
I love Batman - Chris Nolan's trilogy and Batman Returns are among my favorite films - and I highly enjoyed the original Superman and Returns back in 2006. So even though I thought this looked terrible I went in hoping for the best - also because I really love most of the cast that's involved here.

Holy fucking shit.

This movie is a disaster. The plot is borderline incomprehensible and when it does make sense it's incredibly stupid. It has some of the worst editing in a major film I've ever seen, particularly in the first hour which feels like a lot of random scenes patched together. It is endless - it goes on forever to the point where it becomes exhausting. The characters and their motivations are never clearly defined. The action scenes are directed with zero flair and energy. The dream sequences are ridiculous. The actors all give it their all but they are hindered by the incompetent direction of Zack Snyder, who cements himself as one of the worst directors working today with this film. He clearly doesn't get these characters and why they are appealing at all and is so obsessed with making them gritty and akin to religious figures to the point where it gets sickening. Affleck is a good Batman and I'd be curious to see him outside of this with another director, because the character here is frankly unlikable and hard to root for. Cavill is fine but bland. Gal Godot is one of the lone bright spots and also seems to be the only one having any fun here. Amy Adams is in the film a lot but has an incredibly underwritten role that serves no purpose and also becomes quite annoying (when you have Amy Adams in your movie and she is annoying, there is a major issue). The rest of the ensemble is given almost nothing to do (Holly Hunter does well with her screentime but just when you think her character is building to something it doesn't, Diane Lane is wasted, Laurence Fishburne's scenes all blend together, Jeremy Irons just makes you long for Michael Caine as Alfred) except for one exception. Jesse Eisenberg is so unbelievably bad in this movie that his scenes are truly unwatchable. I have never seen a character that was more annoying. To be fair, Snyder's interpretation of this character is a mess to begin with, but Eisenberg's scenes are honestly torture to sit through. The set ups for the other films are actually some of the more enjoyable moments in this movie. The score is awful this time around which is a shame because it was one of the bright spots of Man of Steel.

This movie just makes absolutely no sense on a structural level. It's almost baffling the studio let it be released in the form that it's in.

I'm not writing off the franchise entirely because there are some positive elements. I'm curious to see the other films and more with Ben Affleck and Gal Godot. But dear lord, let this be the final nail in the coffin (funny because there are so many goddamn shots of coffins in this movie it's almost comical) in Hack Snyder's career.

Erm, what?

This movie has some good moments scattered throughout, and the actors are all totally game (and in the case of Jesse Eisenberg, way too game), but Batman v Superman has Zack Snyder's chaotic hands all over it. This movie is an overstuffed mess of clunky dialogue, hodgepodge action sequences, frantic and bombastic character motivations, and absolutely no soul.

Basically, someone needs to remove Snyder from these movies as soon as possible. He doesn't seem to understand that a movie can be, you know, dark and enjoyable at the same time. Soldiering through Batman v Superman's 2.5 hour running time is a grim task.

Cavill, Adams, and newcomer Affleck? All solid, despite the poor dialogue and uneven characterizations they're forced to endure. And Gal Gadot makes quite the impression as Wonder Woman that one hopes will bode well for her solo film.

But man. This movie is just a taxing experience.

C-
