There is very little between ANH and ESB. Both are great. I also enjoy Jedi. Perhaps its because as a kid i loved the Ewoks and loved the finale but it still holds up IMO.

Jesus, this is one of the more difficult reviews I have ever had to write. Had to start over a few times. I suppose because the pressure is high knowing that Star Wars fans will read and scrutinize your every single word.

To be honest, i dont think i'll enjoy my first viewing of it as much as i want to. Expectations are just way too high for it.

I have been working on this review for about six hours now and I am about 60% through. Has got to be a record. A major issue is that it is very very difficult to discuss the film without spoiling some parts. Disney's marketing is ingenious. It tells you NOTHING about the film. And things that you think it tells you, are quite quite misleading.

THE FORCE AWAKENS starts 21-0 at Rotten Tomatoes with an 8.5/10 average.

And we're off.

Just finished rewatching the prequels eventhough I wasn't going to bother with them at first. I was curious to see how TPM held up after all these years and sadly it hasn't at all. Outside of the pod race, Darth Maul, and the music there really isn't much left to like and out of all three films it definitely seems to have the worst CGI aging wise. AOTC isn't much better either, but the third act is pretty fun. The whole creepy Anakin/Padme romance really bogs it down though and the first hour and a half is a slog to get through. Then there's ROTS which is easily the best of prequels, but still far from a great film IMO. All the good stuff doesn't happen until the third act and although there are some well done moments I don't think we got nearly enough of Anakin becoming Darth Vader and his rise to power. Hayden Christensen's weak acting holds both films back a lot, but I do give Lucas credit for atleast trying to inject more credible emotion into ROTS and Ewan McGregor is truly the most consistent good thing in each film, however all are inferior to the OT.
